I’m so grateful that we linked up. Many of you who know my brother Sequoyah who recently became my ancestor, taught me sign language as a child when he attended a deaf school in Baltimore. He was born with Downs Syndrome and had a challenge with his speech. My mother advocated for him to transfer to a school for deaf students to learn sign language and it improved his quality of life so much. I always think of him when I see people signing now.
