SL“Don’t pick this baby up!” ❌
Active sleep is a normal stage of infant sleep, similar to REM sleep in adults.
During this time, babies may move, make sounds, smile, or even open their eyes briefly but they are still asleep.
If you pick your baby up during active sleep, you may accidentally wake them fully and interrupt their sleep cycle.
Only intervene if the crying becomes continuous and intense, and your baby can’t calm down on their own.
👉🏻 Not every movement means your baby is awake. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is… nothing.

ABRight now he sleeps 8-4, I feed him at 4, and then he sleeps again until about 6:30am. He still has wake ups sometimes before and after 4 am but we’ve been able to give him a pacifier and he’ll fall back asleep!
Practicing putting him down drowsy but awake has been huge for us - obviously it took some practice. It puts less pressure on us as parents when it comes to the transfer into the crib (We no longer have to break our backs and arms to try and get him in there without him waking at all since he’s already awake!)
We follow the schedule from the @momsoncall book for the most part - his bedtime is about 30 mins later than what the book calls for but it has been working for him.
ALSO - the night that I filmed this he was surprisingly calm and wasn’t crying…. We often have a lot of tears after our walk/before we get him in the bath. 😅 He definitely has a witching hour type situation around 6:30 usually!
