Beeswax wraps work but too sticky, resin heavy wraps are dragging everyone down. 🤷‍♀️ I invented Abeego in 2008 and in 2010 I printed my ingredients on package for two reasons: 1. Trust. As a former nutritionist I wanted you to know what was touching your food! 2. I knew it would eventually be copied so I thought I might as well be honest instead of secretive. I guess I didn’t expect folks to get the formula so wrong and now beeswax wrap that ranges the gamut from uber sticky to barely tacky and nobody really understand what a good beeswax wrap is. 😩 In my humble opinion a good beeswax wrap is very close to Abeego: Not too thick, not too thin—just right for produce to breathe without drying out or staying too wet. Tacky, Not Sticky: Grips under pressure without leaving sticky residue on hands, counters, or bowls. Flexible Durability: Bends without cracking and holds its shape. Beeswax wraps are a fantastic way to reduce waste, keep your food fresh, and embrace a more sustainable lifestyle. Here’s how you can make your own at home: What You’ll Need: • 100% cotton fabric (cut into your desired sizes and washed) • Beeswax pellets or grated beeswax • Pine resin (optional for added stickiness) • Jojoba oil (optional for flexibility) • Parchment paper • Iron or oven Instructions: 1. Preheat your iron or oven to a low setting. 2. Place your cotton fabric on parchment paper. 3. Sprinkle a thin, even layer of beeswax (and pine resin/jojoba oil if using) over the fabric. 4. Cover with another piece of parchment paper and iron gently until the beeswax melts evenly. Alternatively, bake in the oven at 175°F for 5-10 minutes. 5. Once the wax is melted, remove the fabric and let it cool completely. 6. Your beeswax wrap is ready to use! Simply warm it with your hands to mold it around bowls or directly onto food. How to Make Reusable BEESWAX WRAP: WHAT YOU’LL NEED: Cotton Fabric Pinking Shears Pencil Bowl/ Lid Beeswax Pellets Iron Parchment Paper Aluminum Foil Old Towels HOW TO PROCEED: 1. Wash, dry & iron cotton fabric. 2. Place any lid/ bowl on top of the fabric and stencil around it to draw a circle with a pencil. 3. Cut using pinking shears. 4. Cover bottom of the iron with aluminum foil to prevent wax from sticking to it. Heat iron to cotton/ linen setting. 5. Don’t forget to place old towels on top of the ironing board (to prevent melted wax from sticking to it) & place a large sheet of parchment paper on top. 6. Place fabric on top of the parchment paper & sprinkle 1 to 2 tbsp of beeswax pellets evenly. 7. Fold parchment paper to cover the fabric & beeswax pellets and iron on top. Within a few seconds wax will melt and the fabric will soak it in. 8. Immediately peel off the top parchment paper and quickly pick up beeswax wrap & flap it in the air a few times to make it cool/ dry. Work on this step quickly as wax will solidify within seconds! Beeswax Wrap is now ready to use! CARE: Handwash with cold water only. Air dry and reuse as needed to wrap dry goods such as cut up veggies, herbs, bread, sandwiches etc. Hope you make your own! #sustainable #reuse #beeswaxwraps #diy #makeityourself #reshgala #homemade
