PRHow I get my CRISPYYY block prints on fabric!
INK TYPE
1. The type of ink you use is very important! Using an ink designed specifically for fabric is essential to make sure it is DARK, CLEAN, and CAN BE WASHED. We want them to last! I use Jacquard screen printing ink and let it sit on my palette to get a bit tacky.
✨WORK IN LAYERS
2. Multiple thin layers in the way to go. When rolling out ink on my palette, I make sure there is visual ‘noise’ or texture on both the roller and your palette. you’ll want to see the same texture on your block! 2-4 layers is ideal for a crisp print with about a minute between layers.
💦 SPRAY YOUR FABRIC
3. spray a light mist of water on your fabric! this was the biggest game charger for me getting dark prints. you want to spray a light mist before you begin to roll out your ink. this way, your fabric is still slightly wet to the touch by the time you’re placing your blocks.
↕️ PRESSURE
4. even pressure is IMPORTANT. if you dont own a press, having a solid bit of body pressure will help your ink transfer. once you’ve applied pressure, let the block sit for a few seconds before peeling back to reveal!
