This is the first body building show I’ve prepped for and I want to share a few things I’ve learned so far… 1. Sleep is so crucial - I am such a night owl and I love staying up late working on crafts but once I started prioritizing 8 hours of sleep my workouts were better, my recovery was quicker, and my energy is upppp! 2. Nutrition is the key. Not just “healthy food” but simple and intentional - I follow a full meal plan from my beautiful amazing coach @jomedd and if you keep it simple and just eat the same things (don’t over complicate it) you have less decision fatigue and you actually see the progress. 3. You must have a plan if you want to see progress. If you go to the gym and workout with no structure and no progressive overload you will not get results. “Why do competitors shake on stage during posing?” This is one of the most searched questions before a bodybuilding or bikini competition. And it’s something even top athletes get called out for. At the Arnold Sports Festival, the issue of competitors shaking on stage was actually mentioned. Because at that level — the pro stage — it’s not something that should be happening. Shaking usually comes from: • nerves and adrenaline • holding poses with too much tension • not practising posing enough under pressure Right now many competitors spend months building their physique… but barely train how to present it. And posing is a craft. It’s something you practise like your life depends on it. When you’re calm and composed on stage, judges see: confidence control stage presence But when the body starts shaking it often shows: tension nervous energy lack of composure 3 things that will help improve it: 1. Practise posing consistently throughout prep 2. Focus on breathing while holding poses 3. Practise posing after training so your body learns control under fatigue Because stage confidence isn’t luck. Taking discipline to another level. Hitting and training on 240 grams of Protein on 1,700 calories a day. Yes it brutal. No it’s not sustainable nor is it meant to be. But it’s doable. Heading into the final weeks of prep. At this point I’ve cut about 25lbs from where I originally started. Everything I’ve done to get to this point has been through my own research and experience. Only time will tell if it’s enough… A few keys to success that has got me here: 1: Consistency and gradual decrease over time. It’s important to note the macros didn’t start this low at the beginning of the prep. It was a gradual and intentional decrease of primarily calories and carbs over 10-12 weeks. 2: Weigh everything. Food scales are cheap and worth every penny if you really want to dial it in this tight. 3: Zero cal sauces and flavoring. Pretty sure without hot sauce, mustard, and pepper, I wouldn’t have gotten this far. Hitting 240g of protein in a day really isn’t as hard as most people think. Lots of lean proteins such as tilapia and chicken go a long way supplemented with 2-3 protein shakes seems to do the job. Time will tell if we’ve done enough and made the right adjustments.
