Beauty of masking✨ Save this reel for Later📌 Follow for more🔍 Tired of making blanket adjustments that affect the entire photo? Lightroom’s Masking tools are your key to unlocking precision. I used a combination of Al Subject Select and a Linear Gradient here to perfectly control the light and draw the eye exactly where I wanted it. This is shot on Sony A7S3 started as a flat image with soft fog, scattered greens, and quiet light. But the real mood was hidden inside the balance between shadows and light. . In the grading process, the goal wasn’t to make it louder it was to make it feel Aesthetic and darker but retaining the shadows. . Darkening the path so the eye travels forward. Cooling the greens to embrace the mist. Letting the highlights glow softly instead of screaming white and shaping the shadows so the scene feels calm and cinematic. . Color grading isn’t always about adding color. Sometimes it’s about removing distractions until the atmosphere reveals itself. . #colorgrading #aesthetic #cinematic #sonyalpha #travel

Presets can give you a solid starting point. But that’s all they are… a starting point. If you really want to get better, you have to understand what’s actually happening to your image. What each adjustment does. How colors shift. How light behaves. Otherwise you’re just applying someone else’s look without knowing why it works. Use presets. But don’t rely on them. Learn the tools. Experiment. Break things. That’s how you actually level up. Comment “Link” and I’ll send you the LUT Collection 👇 #davinciresolve #colorgrading #cinematography #log #sony filters presets pnw

The Moody Look 🎬 Every frame tells a story. Subtle shadows, controlled highlights, and intentional color transform ordinary footage into cinematic mood. Shot On @sonyalpha Graded in DaVinci Resolve. Process: • If the video is a LOG, add CST (Color space Transform) to the last node. •1st Node - for Noise removal ( if noisy) • 2nd Node - Cool temperature + slight tint shift ( if you’re footage warm) • 3rd Node - Lower highlights (soft roll-off) Lift shadows slightly (keep detail) For that Use HDR wheels or Primary Color Wheels • 4th Node- Add contrast with curves •5th Node Mask the Subject in your video and create the opposite node of that node. Use the HSL tool to make that node a deep green, reducing yellow and brown. • Add tone LUTs ( Try my ND LUT in Cinematic LUTs or Moody Green LUTs) reduce intensity of LUTs if needed. Also you can use multiple Moody tone LUTs from my Cinematic LUTs Pack (LUT pack Link in my bio) Save this & try it. #moody #davinciresolve #darktone #cinematiclook #moodytones

I see photographers buy preset after preset hoping the next one will finally make their work look cinematic. But the preset usually isn’t the real issue. The real problem is that the image has no intentional palette behind it. A preset can only push the colors that are already there. If the tones in the image don’t feel connected, the final edit will still feel off no matter how expensive the preset was. Here’s how it works: color harmony is what makes an edit feel balanced, cohesive, and intentional. Instead of asking which preset to use, you need to ask which colors should work together in the frame. Complementary colors create contrast and tension, analogous colors create a softer and more cohesive feel, and triadic colors create balance without feeling flat. How I use it in Lightroom: I use Calibration and HSL to nudge the base colors toward a specific palette instead of letting every color stay wherever the camera captured it. That gives the image direction. Inside the Color Grading Manual, I show how to build edits around color harmony instead of relying on presets to save the image for you. Comment “Color” and I’ll send you the link.
