TI𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺, 𝗖𝗖𝗦, 𝗡𝗮𝗯𝘀 𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗜𝗠 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲
Based on credible information, the Special Crime Team (SCT), CCS, Hyderabad apprehended two persons in Hyderabad for possessing 184 illegally activated SIM cards (Airtel – 150, Jio – 34) along with 4 mobile phones.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀:
Nanevath Dinesh Kumar Naik (22 yrs), S/o Soma Shekar Nayak, resident of Bhadripalle, Cuddapah District, Andhra Pradesh.
Parnapally Sai Pradeep (24 yrs), S/o P. Ramakrishna, resident of Proddatur, Cuddapah District, Andhra Pradesh.
The accused, residents of Cuddapah District, Andhra Pradesh, were operating a SIM distribution/promoter business and illegally activating Airtel SIM cards by misusing customers’ KYC details and fingerprints of individuals who visited their outlet to purchase Vodafone-Idea SIMs, without the customers’ knowledge. These illegally activated SIM cards were transported to Hyderabad for sale at high prices.
𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆: Citizens are advised to remain cautious while purchasing SIM cards or updating KYC details and to ensure such services are availed only at authorized network stores/centers.
