Cargo is typically loaded into large aluminum ULDs and stored in the cargo holds of passenger aircraft. But what if you could load cargo into the passenger cabin too? That’s exactly what European Cargo has done with their ex-Virgin Atlantic A340-600s, converting them into the world’s longest cabin freighters.
Spanning an impressive 75 meters, the @airbus A340-600 now carries cargo where passengers once sat, showcasing the incredible versatility of this iconic aircraft and giving it a new lease of life in the skies.
Having flown the A340 for 25 years, I’m glad to see these magnificent jets continuing to serve in a new role rather than being retired.
It’s a testament to their exceptional design, and it’s great to see many of my former colleagues now flying them in the cargo world, keeping these legendary four-engine airliners “on the road again”.
