My biggest insecurity: 7 years ago, I felt small in T shirts. I wanted to change that and build my dream physique. To me, that meant a large chest. I tried spamming thousands of push ups and 4x12 on bench press. It definitely built me some muscle, but not enough. So I locked in on researching bodybuilding. These are the 3 science-based things I changed that transformed my chest gains: 1. 2 sets per exercise, 2-4 (usually 3) exercises for chest. Sometimes I even hit just 1 set to failure of an exercise. You don’t need a million sets. 2. Hit your compound lifts (for me this is the machine chest press and the incline smith machine) and then the isolation movements (chest flyes) 3. Maximum intensity. Every set to failure. Some cheat reps + partials to ensure you can’t complete any more reps. Each rep, release the tension in your chest so you “reset” the movement. If you keep repping and bounce off the rack that defeats the purpose. The point is to work on your power off the bars. This is a great way to go to failure with heavy weight. Helps your body get used to pressing heavy.
