Most mornings I take a walk and hit up new streets I haven’t taken before. I regularly come across new places I want to visit - and that’s just around where I live!
If I want a new adventure, just hop on a bus/train to a different neighborhood and it feels like you’re in a new city all over again.
You’ll start to notice little things:

🥐 Stumble onto hidden cafes and bakeries
I’ve lived here for years and still regularly find new things right near where I live, just by walking where I needed to go.
Sidewalks are wide, intersections are everywhere, and most neighborhoods are set up so you can grab groceries, coffee, or dinner just a few blocks from home.
There’s a reason people in Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Wicker Park, and so many other spots love to brag about their “walk score.” 🏆
You’ll hear people say, “You don’t need a car here!” and it’s actually true.
Between the CTA trains, buses, Divvy bikes (and bike lanes ofc) - getting around is genuinely easy. 🚊
It’s always funny to me seeing someone in a full suit biking but that’s really what it’s like here! 🚴♂️ and biking in winter is doable ya just gotta bundle up!
And if you do need to head out of town? The Metra, the ‘L’, and easy highway access make it simple. You may even ask yourself, “Why am I paying for a car?” 🤔
