EVMost people play Cluedo by asking about cards they don’t have — narrowing down suspects until something clicks. But what if I told you maths says there’s a smarter way to win?
Enter: bluffing. Yep, the same tactic you’d use in poker works in Cluedo too.
If you occasionally ask about cards you’re already holding, you throw your opponents off while still collecting useful info from their responses. It’s sneaky, strategic, and statistically effective.
Computer simulations have shown that this bluffing technique — especially when used with suspects or weapons (not rooms!) — can actually boost your win rate by around 1.4%.
That might not sound like much, but in a close game, it’s often the difference between cracking the case and watching someone else win with the revolver in the lounge.
So next time you’re playing, toss in a cheeky bluff. Ask about that candlestick you’ve got hidden in your hand, and watch your friends scramble to decode your logic — while you inch closer to the truth.
