Pay transparency in the pet creator space matters, so here’s ours for 2025 ⬇️ Pay transparency is so important in the creator community, as we are often taken advantage of by brands that think we don’t know our worth. We support de-stigmatising income transparency in an industry that can feel so secretive, and helping other creators to understand their value. But here’s our (possibly) hot take: anyone CAN make money as a content creator, but not everyone WILL or SHOULD. Why? Because this job takes a huge amount of creative energy, consistency, failure, trial & error, research, and patience. It’s not easy & not for everyone. And if you’re getting into content creation purely to make money, especially if it makes you consider adopting or buying an animal for that reason alone, please don’t. I started this account to document our rescue kitten Honey and to push myself to take photos and videos, after always regretting not capturing enough of Kody when he was younger. I had no idea content creation could be a job. It was (and still is) a creative outlet I genuinely love. I’m just incredibly lucky & grateful that it also became paid work. 💰 So HOW do we make money? • Paid brand deals (our main income) • Merchandise • Facebook monetisation via ads on videos • A small amount from loyal Subscribers ‼️ The part people don’t always talk about Not all “income” is take-home pay. You need to factor in: • Taxes (set money aside early) • Business expenses (equipment, props, software, subscriptions, accountants) • Time (emails, contracts, editing) • Gifted products & tax implications • Inconsistent income (some months are great, others not so much. Saving & planning ahead is key) And when your content involves animals, there’s another layer: • Pet safety always comes first. Not every brief or trend is worth the risk • Turning down brands or concepts that aren’t safe, aligned, or appropriate • Vet bills, insurance, enrichment, quality food, and ongoing costs that exist regardless of content creation • Extra planning to make sure filming doesn’t cause stress or discomfort (Cont in comments) #paytransparency #contentcreator #petfluencer
