TAOne of the most common questions I get is, “What’s your cost per square foot?”
I get why people ask, but construction just isn’t that simple.
It’s not a linear equation. Cutting 100 square feet doesn’t automatically mean the price drops by some fixed amount. Depending on where that space is and what it’s used for, the cost might barely change at all. A kitchen, a bathroom, and a hallway are all very different, even if they’re the same size.
Cost per square foot is fine as a high level starting point. After that, the real conversation should be about total budget and priorities. That’s how projects actually get built without surprises.
