A day in my life analysing should I be building in D2C? The D2C playbook everyone’s following? It’s from 2016, 2019, 2020. And I’m realizing that might be the problem. I have been diving deep into this space working with brands, analyzing patterns, asking hard questions. And here’s what keeps coming up: The math doesn’t add up anymore. CAC has tripled. Retention costs have doubled. And the brands getting funding? Most are being operated on VC money, burning cash and taking up losses. (Kudos to the profitable ones, lot of respect!!) Now, I know CAC and RTO differ from product to product, category to category. But the overall trend? It’s undeniable. So before I jump in myself, I am pausing to ask: Are we chasing a wave that’s already crashed? Or is there a new wave to build in that no one’s talking about yet?
