Democratic governors across the country are working to improve Black maternal health and access to reproductive health care through Medicaid expansion, and Ofirah Yheskel, @demgovs’ Director of External Affairs, joined us to discuss the importance of these policies. As we know, by nearly every metric, the United States is doing very poorly when it comes to maternal and infant health. The states with the most restrictive abortion bans — and worst Black maternal health outcomes — are led by Republicans. Adding in the GOP’s ongoing attacks on health care and abortion medication, the upcoming 2023 and 2024 governors races are crucial for protecting bodily autonomy and reproductive rights: - Kentucky - Louisiana - Mississippi - North Carolina This is a clip from the full interview.
