In our daily lives, when we sin and go to Confession, those sins are forgiven. But the temporal punishment — the effects of sin — often remains. We repair this through penance, charity, indulgences, or purification in purgatory. But on this one sacred day, through the mercy of Jesus Christ, something incredible happens: ✨ Not only are sins forgiven ✨ But even the punishment due to sin is wiped away A soul becomes completely renewed. A soul returns to its original purity. This is a grace beyond understanding. Let us not miss this gift. Prepare your heart. Go to Confession. Receive Holy Communion on Divine Mercy Sunday. Confession: → While you ideally should confess your sins to receive the plenary indulgence, you can do so up to 20 days before or after Divine Mercy Sunday, or even on the day itself. Holy Communion: → Receive Holy Communion on Divine Mercy Sunday, either at Mass the day of, or a Vigil Mass the night before. Pray for the Pope’s Intentions: → Pray for the Holy Father’s intentions, which can be done with a prayer like the Our Father or the Hail Mary. Prayers and Devotions: → Participate in prayers and devotions in honor of Divine Mercy, which can include reciting the Our Father, Creed, and a prayer to the merciful Jesus (e.g., “Merciful Jesus, I trust in You!”) in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. The Lords mercy is infinite. Today, on Divine Mercy Sunday, we’re reminded of just how merciful God is with each of us. Jesus literally told St. Faustina during the many revelations that she received from our Lord that the greater the sinner, the greater right they have to His mercy. No sin is too great for God. No sin is too great for God. No sin is too great for God. If you think there’s no way God can forgive you for something you’ve done, think again. God is waiting to pour his abundant mercy into your heart. Run to confession, run to our Lord, and allow Him to shower you in His mercy. Another quote from St. Faustina’s diary is that Jesus tells her, “My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity.” Jesus is saying that you and I literally can’t even fathom how great his mercy is! So not only today but everyday, know that Jesus is waiting for you with open arms and a heart full of forgiveness - all you have to do is seek Him and His mercy with a genuine heart.
