THMeet Bree.
Bree is 13 years old and in the 8th grade, which is actually a miracle in itself because Bree didn’t know if she’d finish 7th grade. On Sept 5, 2024, Bree was struck by a driver in a lit crosswalk as she was walking home from the bus stop.
This is her #DontKillMeWithACar story.
Bree was knocked unconscious in the crash, so she doesn’t remember much about the moment it happened. But she remembers what came after — the pain, the long recovery, and the endless therapies that followed.
Even as the multitude of her severe physical wounds heal, the trauma remains. That’s what makes Bree so brave. She’s sharing her story to help The White Line raise awareness about how common and devastating these crashes are.
Bree isn’t asking for much: slower speed limits, safer crosswalks, and for drivers to actually yield when someone is walking or biking across the street.
No 13-year-old should have to ask for that. It should already be the norm.
But it’s not.
