SIThe idea that “souls” communicate through quantum entanglement is popular in science fiction and metaphysical discussions — but physics tells a far more rigorous story.
In quantum mechanics, entanglement is a strictly mathematical and physical phenomenon. When two particles become entangled, their quantum states cannot be described independently — even across vast distances.
Here’s what that actually means:
• Superposition: Before measurement, quantum systems exist in multiple possible states simultaneously.
• Instantaneous Correlation: Measuring particle A immediately determines the correlated state of particle B — regardless of distance.
However, this does NOT allow faster-than-light messaging.
According to the No-Communication Theorem, entanglement cannot transmit usable information without a classical communication channel. Measurement outcomes are fundamentally random. You cannot “encode” or control a message through entanglement alone.
So where does the consciousness link come from?
The speculative bridge is the Orchestrated Objective Reduction (Orch-OR) theory, proposed by physicist Roger Penrose and anesthesiologist Stuart Hameroff. The theory suggests:
• Quantum processes may occur in microtubules inside neurons
• If consciousness has a quantum basis, non-local correlations could theoretically emerge
But it is critical to understand:
There is currently no empirical evidence that human consciousness uses quantum entanglement for communication.
