My kids absolutely loved them! 🤳 Save & Share with someone you want to adventure here with 🤗 Know before you go: 🌳 Free to the public 🌳 Plenty of parking 🌳 Trails through Prarie and woods 🌳You don't have to climb the suspension bridge. You can go through the opposite side of the field 🌳 A creek 📍 Thornwood Nature Preserve 🍽 We grabbed dinner afterwards at @thedepot1906 in Greenfield 🤤 I highly recommend. 🙌 The environment was amazing, the food was even better 😋 📲 Don't forget to save for later 🗣 Please remember to always practice leave no trace. Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints. Kill nothing but time. Pack out what you pack in, stay on marked trails & respect the wildlife. It’s open every Tuesday and Wednesday from May—September! Tips for when you go ⤵️ • Get there early for the best stuff. • Bring cash! Day 1 in Delhi and it actually went surprisingly smooth. We’d been told all sorts of horror stories about landing in India and how chaotic it is getting through customs… but honestly, we had no problems at all. I think people just enjoy the drama. That said, it wouldn’t be our trip if there wasn’t a bit of chaos thrown in. Last night our taxi literally kicked us out halfway to the hotel from the airport, but a very kind tuk tuk driver came to our rescue and got us there safely. Today included me (Bec) getting head-butted in the leg by a cow and Jax nearly getting clipped by a very slow veering scooter… so yes, a fairly eventful first day. We also had our first proper Indian curry. We played it safe and went for paneer dishes, but it was absolutely delicious and officially a tick off Oli’s bucket list. Spring Mill State Park in Mitchell, Indiana What an incredible state park Spring Mill is. I hadn’t been to Spring Mill since I was a kid and I was definitely missing out. There is so much to do that we barely skimmed the surface yesterday and can’t wait to come back to keep exploring. Spring Mill has camping, an Olympic size pool, trails, a nature center, Pioneer Village, Twin Caves boat tour, Donaldson cave, boat rentals such as kayaks and canoes, and a hotel. It is located a little over 2 hours from Lafayette and 1.5 hours from downtown Indianapolis. In my opinion you’ll need at least 2 days (if not longer) to really experience everything. We took the path less traveled to the Donaldson Cave. We somehow made a 1 mile hike into quite a journey (we blame it on the kids 🤣), but it was a beautiful hike and we still made it to our destination. The kids enjoyed finding their own walking sticks, finding some snake skin, and playing in the stream by the cave. The cave was awesome, but extremely muddy so be prepared! Tips: -Wear comfortable hiking shoes that can get wet. -Make sure you have an extra pair of clothes. -Bring a flashlight or headlamp. The cave is dark inside once you go in.
