CAAn unforgettable day at sea!
What started as an already exciting trip out to find port and starboard, as we’d heard earlier that day they had been spotted by local costal whale watchers in the bay, turned into pure wild drama. We watched two killer whales who had separated a young dolphin from its pod and chase it for over an hour across the bay. The bull was huge (8m)
The little dolphin gave everything to escape, twisting and sprinting while the orcas surged behind. Were they hunting? Playing? Practicing? We still don’t know.
We never saw the ending, as we got towards the mouth of the bay we had to turn back towards the harbour, but amazing to witness the raw nature, unfolding in front of us. A powerful reminder of the wild world out there right on@our doorstep.
