You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. John 13:13-15 It was very important to me that the glory of God be shown in my wedding and the Holy Spirit put it on my heart years ago to perform foot washing during my ceremony. While this may seem strange to some, it is significant to others, because it’s an example of the humility Jesus showed to his disciples, and the example He sets for us. To honor one another and serve one another. Not just in marriage, but as followers of Christ. Our marriage will be built on the foundation of service. An important distinction I wanted to highlight during my wedding day. Being cute and not getting my wedding dress dirty wasn’t as important to me as actively showcasing that at the altar I died to myself and became even more of a servant to God and now to my husband (as to each other). 🤍 Videography: @kobestoowavy @abigailpetitdo #weddingday #christianreels #christianmarriage #footwashing #footwashingceremony #lovelikejesus

In this moment from The Chosen, Jesus does something that feels uncomfortable, even shocking. Peter resists because he doesn’t understand how the Lord, the Teacher, could lower Himself like this. But Jesus isn’t just making a point. He’s revealing the heart of God. Foot washing isn’t about symbolism alone. It’s about humility lived out. Christ shows that real authority doesn’t dominate, it serves. Love doesn’t demand recognition, it kneels. In the Kingdom of God, greatness is measured by how willingly we place ourselves at the feet of others. As Catholics, this scene hits close to home. We see the Gospel lived before our eyes. Jesus teaches His disciples, and us, that following Him means choosing humility daily: in our families, our friendships, our marriages, and even in moments when our pride wants to resist. This is the kind of love Christ calls us to. Quiet. Sacrificial. Faithful. A love that reflects Him not through words alone, but through how we serve, forgive, and give ourselves away for others. Feet washing ceremony at our wedding 🤍 I posted this video on other socials during Holy Week and it reached quite a lot of people so wanted to share it here but also wanted to explain the meaning of this and why we chose to do this at our wedding. During Jesus last meal He washed His disciples feet, it was a symbol for all of His followers to see how they should treat one another. Foot washing required humility on the part of both parties : the one willing to wash another’s feet and also the one willing to have their feet washed. At our wedding we wanted to let go of any hurts or mistakes and start our married life with a fresh perspective and a clean slate. It symbolizes the commitment to forgive and support each other unconditionally and this is only possible for us with Jesus as our anchor 🤍

The foot washing isn’t just an act of service—it’s a powerful reminder that you are seen, known, and deeply loved 🤍 Jesus didn’t kneel simply to serve—He knelt to restore your identity. He washed your feet not to point out your mess, but to say, you are worthy, you are chosen, you are beloved—just as you are 🥹🙌🏼 You are not disqualified by your dust. You are dignified by His love ❤️ Artwork: Washed in Worth (Print is available. Tonight is Holy Thursday — and most Catholics will sit through one of the most extraordinary liturgies of the year and miss everything hidden inside it. Here are 3 things that changed how I see Easter entirely. 👇 — 🔴 NUMBER ONE: The foot washing isn’t about Jesus being humble. It’s about Peter’s pride. When Jesus goes to wash Peter’s feet, Peter says “You will NEVER wash my feet.” Most people read that as reverence. Jesus doesn’t. He responds: “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.” Peter’s problem isn’t his devotion. It’s his self-sufficiency. His refusal to admit he needs cleaning. The thing blocking Peter from Christ is his pride in not thinking he needs to be washed. The invitation of Holy Thursday isn’t to admire Jesus on His knees. It’s to be humble enough to let Him wash you. — 🔴 NUMBER TWO: There are two Greek words for “washing” in this passage — and they unlock something most Catholics have never been taught. Louō = the full bath. Niptō = washing a body part, like feet. When Jesus says “unless I wash (niptō) you, you have no part in me” — Peter says wash ALL of me. And Jesus replies: “The one who has bathed (louō) does not need to wash (niptō) except for his feet.” This goes all the way back to Exodus 30:17-21 — where Aaron and his sons were commanded to wash their feet at the bronze basin before entering the tent of meeting. Even after their full ceremonial washing, their feet still needed cleansing because they still walked on the earth. This is pointing directly to Baptism and Confession. Baptism (louō) cleanses us completely. But our feet still touch the world. We still need ongoing niptō — the sacrament of Confession — because we still walk in a fallen world and become stained with sin. — 🔴 NUMBER THREE: When the soldiers came to arrest Jesus in Gethsemane, He said two words: “I am He.” In the Greek — Ego Eimi. The same divine name God revealed to Moses at the burning bush: “I AM WHO I AM.” They all fell to the ground. Every one of them. A Roman cohort — up to 600 soldiers! Jesus was a willing sacrifice not a weak man that was captured against his will. #catholicism #catholic #catholicsofinstagram #easter #catholicfaith

Holy Thursday 🤍 The foot washing is one of the greatest gestures of love Jesus showed His disciples a symbol of humility, service, and choosing love daily. As we wash each other’s feet, we honor that same covenant: to love, serve, and walk beside one another with grace. This is one of the initiate moments in our wedding that I will forever treasure in my heart. I couldn’t do this with anybody else but you @mmitchtx #holythursday #catholicwedding #semanasanta #holyweek #lavadodepies

When Jesus washed His disciples’ feet, He did something radically countercultural. In those days, foot washing was the job of the lowest servant in the house — it was dirty, humbling work. Yet, Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, stooped low to serve. This was not just about clean feet. It was about clean hearts, humility, and the posture of true leadership. Jesus said, “I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.” He was teaching us that no matter our title, calling, or level of anointing, we are never too important to serve others. In fact, the highest calling is to love and serve as He did — sacrificially and humbly. In ministry, business, leadership, and holistic care, this becomes the blueprint: •To serve instead of seeking to be served. •To nurture, heal, and refresh others, even when it’s unseen or unglamorous. •To minister to the parts of people’s lives that often go untouched — like the weary, “dusty” places of their soul. In holistic esthetics or healing spaces, this is mirrored when you gently cleanse a client’s skin, anoint them with oils, pray, and create an atmosphere where burdens are lifted. It’s not just about the external — it’s about tending to the hidden places with love and care. Jesus washing feet teaches us that true ministry happens when we bow low in love, and in doing so, we reflect His heart and His hands in the earth. #holisticskincare #footbath #prayer #healing #servantleadership #heartposture

Have you ever participated in foot washing? In John 13, Jesus did something unexpected — He washed His disciples’ feet. The Son of God took the role of a servant to show what real love looks like: humble, selfless, and hands-on. 🕊️ “If I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.” — John 13:14 It’s more than a ritual — it’s a reminder that following Jesus means serving others with love. #loveonpurpose #deliveranceministry #acts238 #footwashing #knowyourworthretreat

Taught Brecklyn one of my favorites today — to lead is to serve! We see Matthew 20:28 says that Jesus did not come looking to be served, but came looking to serve others. He gives us a picture of this in John 13 by the symbolic act of humble service, foot washing. Have fun at home and do this with the kiddos! Can’t wait for Brecklyn to say she remembers moments like these😍
