THWhen you start a business you’re pretty much guaranteed to get some negativity & naysayers from time to time—especially when you operate online. Social media can be a beautiful, amazing thing, but it can also be toxic & disheartening.
While the response after launching the formula fairy was overwhelmingly positive, I absolutely was (& still am) inundated with hate & negativity.
“The formula fairy? No one’s going to take you seriously.”
“Who needs formula support? Everyone formula feeds, it’s already normalized.”
“Your “job” isn’t necessary. What’s so complicated about formula? Just read the label.”
“Just another formula pusher, which company is paying you?”
Granted, the vast majority of comments like these come from extremist breastfeeding advocates. So it doesn’t surprise me. But it didn’t make it hurt any less. To be entirely honest, I let it affect me more than I should have for much longer than I should have. It hurts to put your heart, soul & nearly all of your time into something you’re deeply passionate about & KNOW is needed, meaningful & important…just to be torn down every step of the way.
But the longer I’ve done this work, the quieter the negativity has become. At this point it’s all but drowned out entirely by the unbelievable support, kindness, & positivity from the formula feeding community & those who support it. The voices of those who support my mission are far louder than those who don’t.
There are always going to be people who don’t like me or the work I do. There are always going to be people who don’t like formula. That’s something I can’t control. But I CAN control how I react to the hate. I can let it intimidate me, hurt me or bully me into silence. OR I can let it fuel my mission & passion for advocating for formula feeding parents. I can take that negativity & turn it into a positive by doing the very thing they dread the most—providing information, resources & support for formula feeding families. With more determination & fervor than ever.
Not everyone will support my work, but at the end of the day I have nearly 80,000 people who do. That’s more than enough for me. ❤️

These are common myths I hear on social media about infant formula that are not true!
Kendamil gets so much hype. It’s a great formula IF your baby can tolerate intact proteins. If they can’t, it’s not going to solve your baby’s feeding concerns.
The goat milk formula is great but I would be very reluctant to get on a formula after so many shortages.
Your baby will likely thrive on generic formula! It is thoughtfully crafted and perrigo has very strict manufacturing. I believe formula made by perrigo is likely some of the safest because they have a lot to lose if something goes wrong. Just my opinion.
And whoever says parents who bottle feed won’t bond as much is just crazy. What a sweeping generalization. Sometimes bottle feeding helps bonding (like it did with me).
Ask your questions! Tell me I’m wrong. That’s okay.

PEIf you’ve ever spiraled after hearing that “just one bottle of formula can damage your baby’s gut,” you’re not alone.
Let’s zoom out.
The infant gut microbiome is not a fixed, fragile thing. It is constantly changing, especially in the first year of life, and is influenced by many factors, not diet alone.
Breastmilk does contain components that support beneficial bacteria, but meaningful does not equal “anything else causes harm.” That leap is unfounded and is where fear creeps in.
There is no strong evidence showing that a single bottle of formula causes long term gut damage or chronic disease. The microbiome adapts. It evolves. It is responsive, not ruined.
What we do have strong evidence for?
Maternal mental health matters.
Infant weight gain matters.
Adequate sleep matters.
Reducing feeding stress matters.
When parents delay supplementation out of fear, or push themselves into burnout trying to avoid formula at all costs, that can create real health consequences.

As a board-certified pediatrician, I reserve it for babies with signs of cow’s milk protein allergy, not routine fussiness or spit-up. It can be incredibly helpful when indicated—but it’s not for every baby, and that’s okay.
