PR3 things every perfume collector should know 🙂↕️♥️
1. SAMPLE FIRST! no blind buys!!!! if i had a penny for every time i’ve seen the comment “i blind bought this and i hate it”…i would be a wealthy, wealthy woman. always sample first! my go-tos for sampling are ministry of scent, twisted lily, and scent split.
2. try it on your skin, and try it more than once! i’ve fallen in love with so many fragrances on test strips or in the first 20 minutes of testing it on my skin, only to get home and change my mind about the dry down. if you’re pressed for time, at least wear it while you shop around or have a coffee outside. give it time to sit on your skin before you drop the money!
3. find a perfumer you like! my favorite thing to do is follow perfumers and collect multiple works from them—just like having a favorite author or artist! if you notice that a perfumer is listed for a fragrance you really love, go see what else they’ve made! my favorite example is that i fell in love with parisian musc from matiere premiere, which is aurélien guichard’s brand. after a little digging, i found out he also made the perfume i wore every day in high school. 🥹
