This is actually a multisensory integration activity — it gives controlled proprioceptive, tactile, and vestibular input to the body and hands. Here’s how each element helps 👇 🟢 1. Proprioceptive Compression through the Upper Limbs When the child bears weight on the ball (especially during a plank), → the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and finger joints receive deep pressure input. This: • Activates muscle spindles and joint receptors, • Sends strong signals to the somatosensory cortex, • Helps the brain map body position clearly. 🟣 2. Vibratory Input to the Hands The vibration plate stimulates mechanoreceptors in the skin and muscles (especially Pacinian corpuscles). This: • Gives high-frequency tactile input to the sensory cortex, • Increases cortical arousal and sensory registration, • “Feeds” the tactile system in a rich, organized way. 🔵 3. Core Activation + Vestibular Regulation Balancing on the ball during plank posture activates the core and postural muscles, requiring: • Midline stability • Bilateral coordination • Controlled movement This stabilizes the vestibular-proprioceptive loop, improving overall body organization and reducing erratic movements. 🟠 4. Simultaneous Bilateral Integration Both hands are engaged together on the plate — This encourages the two hemispheres of the brain to work in sync. Since many self-stimulatory behaviors are asymmetric and repetitive, symmetrical, purposeful use of both hands helps rewire sensory-motor control. 🔴 5. Replacement Through Purposeful Sensory Input Instead of trying to stop flapping directly, this activity replaces it with a more organized and functional source of sensory feedback. The vibration + proprioception combo offers the same kind of stimulation the child’s brain was seeking through flapping — but in a structured, regulating, and body-organizing way. . . . . . . . 🧠⚡️ PRIME Before You TRAIN Before we challenge the brain… we activate the system. One of the most powerful combos we use at OTEIM: 🔴 Low-Level Laser Therapy ➕ 🌀 Whole-Body Vibration Plate Together, they: ✅ Increase circulation + oxygen to the brain ✅ Wake up postural and stabilizing muscles ✅ Activate key brain networks tied to motor control + speech ✅ Support vestibular input and body organization ✅ Prepare the nervous system for learning, movement, and focus This isn’t just “cool tech”— It’s rooted in functional neurology + developmental science. We’re seeing faster results in speech, coordination, regulation, and body awareness when we prime the system before other therapies. ✨ Want to learn how we customize laser + vibration protocols for your child’s brain profile? 👇 Comment “intensive” and we’ll send you more info about how our intensives work. #NeuroadaptiveTherapy #LowLevelLaserTherapy #VibrationPlate #BrainBodyConnection #FunctionalNeurology #SpeechTherapySupport #MotorDevelopment #VestibularSystem #TherapyTools #LaserTherapyForKids #SensoryProcessing #AutismSupport #ADHDSupport #OTEIM #BrainPriming #RegulationFirst

The Luria 3-step motor sequencing task (e.g., fist–edge–palm) is a classic tool used in neurological exams to assess a child’s frontal lobe function, especially motor planning, sequencing, and inhibitory control. In kids, a more playful version, like rock-paper-scissors, can serve a similar purpose. If a child struggles with rock-paper-scissors (for example, they repeat the same move, get stuck in a pattern, or can’t follow the rhythm) it may reflect executive dysfunction. Specifically, it can suggest difficulty with: Sequencing: Trouble organizing multiple motor steps in a specific order. Motor planning (dyspraxia): Knowing what to do but struggling to carry it out smoothly. Cognitive flexibility: Difficulty switching between moves (like going from “rock” to “paper”). Inhibitory control: Impulsively throwing a move before the cue or copying instead of taking their own turn. These signs often point to frontal lobe immaturity or dysregulation, which is commonly seen in children with ADHD, developmental delays, or other neurodevelopmental conditions. Just like with the original Luria task, the breakdown isn’t just motor. It’s neurological. #functionalneurology #braindevelopment #neurodevelopment #childdevelopment #brainfunction #adhd #add #autism #developmentaldelay

The way your hand moves toward your nose reveals how well different areas of your brain are functioning. 👉 Struggle to get started? That’s your frontal lobe. 👉 Overshoot or tremble before hitting the target? Cerebellum. 👉 Too fast or jerky? That’s basal ganglia. 👉 Drift off midline then correct? Parietal lobe. Each of these brain regions is involved in more than just movement. They affect how you think, how you feel, how you function. 🧠The cerebellum coordinates both physical and mental tasks—balance, motor control, and even emotional regulation. 🧠The parietal lobe handles spatial awareness and how your brain maps the world around you. 🧠 The frontal lobe is your command center—planning, decision-making, and initiating action. Movement is information. And if you know what to look for, it can tell you everything. Try it. Film it. The vagus nerve system is responsible for keeping kids calm and regulated under stress, balancing out the “fight or flight” system. Here are some of our favorite tools we use at BrainCamp to help kids strengthen this vagus nerve system: 1. Truvaga: The Truvaga device directly stimulates the vagus nerve as it travels down the neck, using mild electric stimulation. Kids feel a gentle pulsing tickle as the device does its work. 2. BrainTap: BrainTap uses specific frequencies of light and sound to retrain the brain. Here we’re using slow frequencies to train theta waves, associated with deep relaxation. 3. Laser: We are using infrared laser over the prefrontal area of the brain to increase its connectivity. The prefrontal area is responsible for regulation and executive function, and has strong connections to the vagus nerve system. 4. Alive Biofeedback: Alive measures the child’s heart rate and provides real time feedback. In this case, the more the child regulates his heart rate, the louder the music plays. This makes breathing exercises much more engaging for kids and helps them stay focused. 🎯 Train the Brain. Transform the Life. 🧠 📍 Melillo Method x Interactive Metronome 📍 When we give the brain a clear instruction like a rhythm to follow, a limb to move, or a target to focus on we ignite neuroplasticity. That means we're rewiring how the brain connects, processes, and performs. 💥 In this video, you're witnessing a child engaging in brain-based training that: ✅ Strengthens timing & coordination ✅ Improves focus, attention, and emotional control ✅ Balances left and right brain communication ✅ Enhances motor planning and executive function The Melillo Method identifies hemispheric imbalances, while Interactive Metronome uses rhythm-based cues to correct them, creating harmony between body and brain. 👣 Every movement, every beat, and every repetition is building stronger neural pathways. 💬 Curious how this can help your child thrive?
