This LEGO build clearly shows the real difference between low and high gears. Watch this LEGO model explain low versus high gear power instantly. In this video, we explain how A small gear driving a larger gear increases torque but reduces speed, while a large gear driving a smaller gear increases speed but reduces torque — all shown with a simple LEGO model. 📌 What you’ll learn in this video: ✔ How gear size and gear ratio create low (high torque) and high (high speed) gears. ✔ A simple LEGO example that visually proves torque vs speed trade-off. ✔ Real-world uses — when to use low gear (climbing, heavy load) and high gear (cruising, top speed). Low gear: imagine a 10-tooth (small) gear driving a 30-tooth (large) gear. For every full turn of the 10-tooth gear, the 30-tooth gear turns 10/30 = 1/3 of a rotation. That means output speed is one third, but torque becomes 3 times larger (ignoring losses). So low gear = slower output, more pulling power. High gear: reverse it — a 30-tooth gear drives a 10-tooth gear. For every full turn of the 30-tooth gear, the 10-tooth gear turns 30/10 = 3 rotations. Output speed is 3×, but torque is reduced to 1/3. High gear = faster output, less pulling power. Why this matters: torque × angular speed ≈ power (minus losses). Gears trade torque for speed so the motor can work in its useful range. In vehicles or bikes, you pick low gears for starts, hills, or heavy loads; pick high gears for steady, fast cruising. Quick caption (optional): See torque vs speed explained with LEGO — same motor, different gears, totally different results. #LEGO #Gears #GearRatio #Torque #Speed

How Gear Works ⚙️ Looks simply… just two wheels turning But this is how machines control power and speed. When gears connect: Big gear → more force, less speed Small gear → more speed, less force That’s how a tiny gear can help move something massive. Cars, clocks, machines… they all rely on this simple trick of physics. #gears #howitworks #physics #engineering #mechanics #machines #sciencefacts #stem #didyouknow #scienceexplained #reelsinstagram #viralreels #explorepage #fyp #learnengineering

An engine runs efficiently in a narrow RPM range. The gearbox translates that into either torque or wheel speed. First gear: small gear drives large — the wheel turns once for every four engine rotations. Less speed, more force. High gear: the ratio flips. A truck's first gear ratio can reach 1:16. A cyclist shifting to an easier gear on a hill is running the exact same physics — just without 200 horsepower. Video author unknown. Four gear stages, each multiplying speed by 5. That's 5 × 5 × 5 × 5 = 625. One lazy turn and the final wheel spins so fast it blurs. Same principle as a car transmission, just reversed: cars trade speed for torque, this trades torque for speed. The catch? Torque drops by the same factor. You could stop that last wheel with your pinky. Video author unknown. If you are the author (or rights holder), please contact us. #facts #didyouknow #technology #engineering #lego #gears

Magnetically assisted gears: torque transfer without touch 🧲⚙️ Most gearboxes rely on direct mechanical contact—teeth meshing, surfaces rubbing, energy lost as heat, noise, and wear. This system flips that idea entirely. Magnetically assisted (or magnetic) gears transmit torque using magnetic fields instead of physical contact. The input and output shafts are coupled through precisely arranged permanent magnets. As one rotor spins, its changing magnetic field induces motion in the other—no teeth, no frictional contact. 🔬 Why this matters in engineering: • Near-zero wear: No physical contact means dramatically longer lifetimes • Silent operation: No vibration or acoustic noise transfer • Built-in overload protection: If torque exceeds limits, magnetic coupling simply slips—no catastrophic failure • Tolerance-friendly: No need for micron-level mechanical alignment 🛰️ Where this shines: • Space mechanisms (vacuum + lubrication problems = nightmare for normal gears) • Medical devices (quiet, sterile, low-maintenance systems) • Precision robotics & isolation platforms • Harsh environments where lubrication breaks down ⚠️ The tradeoff: Magnetic gears typically have lower torque density than traditional gearboxes and require advanced materials (like rare-earth magnets). Engineers must balance efficiency, size, and cost. This is a perfect example of physics replacing mechanics—using fields instead of forceful contact to do the same job, often better. 💬 Would you trust magnets over metal gears in critical systems? 🔁 Share with a mechanical or aerospace engineer 💾 Save for later STEM reference #StemAntics #EngineeringExplained #MechanicalEngineering #PhysicsInAction #STEMEducation
