We tried PECS, GoTalk 9, TouchChat, LAMP, Aacorn and whatever else I can’t remember now 🤪 I was told my son would never speak, and simplified sign language and AAC was as our path. Except my son rejected them all, in spite of the relentless modeling and incentivizing I implemented. So I designed these. I knew there were other families out there like ours, and I wanted the assistive communication arena to be better than how I found it. ABA cares about children learning to communicate so the can become independent, and so they can get their needs/wants met. GoTalk NOW ist: eine App für Unterstützte Kommunikation (UK) – also eine technische Kommunikationshilfe für Menschen, die nicht oder nur schwer sprechen können. Sie läuft vor allem auf iPads und wird genutzt, um eigene kommunikative Seiten zu erstellen. Seiten mit Symbolen, Bildern oder Fotos •Tasten, die beim Antippen Sprache ausgeben (Text-to-Speech oder eigene Aufnahmen) •Verschiedene Layouts (z. B. 1, 4, 9, 16 Felder) •Szenenseiten mit Hintergrundbildern und Hotspots •Express-Seiten, auf denen mehrere Wörter gesammelt und dann zusammen abgespielt werden können 🎨 Wie funktioniert das? Du legst auf dem iPad eine Seite an, z. B. mit 4 großen Symbol-Tasten. Wenn jemand auf ein Symbol tippt, sagt das iPad den hinterlegten Text laut. As a mom to a daughter who is Autistic and also non verbal I have to think outside the box when it comes to helping her with communication. I started creating pages on her GoTalk app and I quiz her with flash cards on just about everything ( animals, food, feelings etc etc ) GoTalk or any AAC device is pretty crucial for non verbal kids to start using if the words are not coming, this is just my opinion. Speech is always the primary goal but having these apps and devices definitely cuts down on her frustration. And today we caught a VERY VERY SPECIAL MOMENT on camera!! I was filming to show my parents how well she’s doing with using the iPad to speak and then she shocked me!! I caught Viv answering me when I ask what does the sheep say? She says BA BA BA in the sweetest little voice!!! 🥹💓 I am crying obviously and my heart feels like it could explode with happiness, you can see by my reaction. 💓😭 Parents friends: Never take for granted your child’s ability to speak. I hear parents say “oh once they start talking they never stop.” I literally pray everyday for that day to come in our lives and moments like this give Michael and I so much hope 💓 #autism #autismawareness #speech #proudmom #mygirl

It is important to remember that visual scenes can strengthen language concepts and use our emergent communicator's episodic memory to work on language! For emergent AAC users (especially young children), having a grid display and visual scene displays is appropriate for supporting language growth.
