*mute phone to avoid looping music* Being a Highly Sensitive Person can be exhausting, we take in and process more than our non sensitive pals and that means an “average”’day can feel like running a marathon. Let me know which scenarios below really get to you 1. Friends running late Time changes throw off your internal rhythm and sense of safety. 2. Busy highways Your system is scanning constantly. Lanes, speed, sound, movement. 3. Two people talking at once Filtering multiple inputs at the same time gets overwhelming fast. 4. Sad TV scenes You don’t just watch emotions. You feel them in your body. 5. Unannounced guests No transition time. Your nervous system goes from rest to social instantly. 6. Loud restaurants Noise, voices, lights, and movement stack all at once. 7. On-the-spot decisions You naturally process deeply. Pressure removes that space. 8. Last-minute plan changes Your body already adjusted to one timeline. 9. Other people’s moods You pick up emotional shifts even when nothing is said. 10. Being rushed Speed overrides your natural pacing and regulation. You can’t, and don’t need to, turn off your sensitivity but you can find ways to support your nervous system so life feels less overwhelming. Follow @emilymacleodwellness to learn how.

Do you ever walk away from a conversation feeling heavy, anxious, or off—and you’re not even sure why? You might be absorbing other people’s energy without realizing it. Like an emotional sponge 🧽 your nervous system takes in tension, frustration, or sadness from those around you—even when you have the best intentions. 🧠 When your system is unprotected, it confuses empathy with responsibility. It tries to fix, hold, or mirror what others are feeling... but at the cost of your own well-being. ✨ Tapping helps your brain and body recognize: “This isn’t mine to carry.” By calming your nervous system, it teaches you to stay connected without becoming overloaded—so you can care without collapsing. Your sensitivity is a gift. And with the right tools, it becomes intuitive strength—not emotional exhaustion. For support, explore these powerful sessions in The Tapping Solution App (link in bio!): 🔹 Clearing Negative Energy Picked Up From Others 🔹 Gratitude for Healthy Boundaries 🔹 Recharging Your Energy – Guided Imagery 🔹 Release Overwhelm 🔹 I Give Myself Permission to Set Healthy Boundaries – Quick Tap 🔹 I Honor My Sensitive Heart – Quick Tap You don’t need thicker skin. You just need a regulated nervous system. Tap to protect your energy—and still show up with your whole heart! #energyprotection #energy #protectyourenergy #empath #empaths #empathsunite #highlysensitiveperson #eft #efttapping #emotionalfreedomtechnique #thetappingsolution #nervoussystemregulation #nervoussystemhealth #nervoussystemhealing #nervoussystem

POV: your biggest “weakness” is actually your hidden superpower 🤔 Early in my writing career, someone said something to me that I’ve thought about ever since. I thought that I’d be so much happier and more productive if I could just stop being so sensitive. It can be hard to accept sensitivity, especially in a world where qualities like toughness and stoicism are highly valued. But I encourage you to think about the superpowers that sensitivity lends you - What do you notice that other people don’t? #highlysensitiveperson #mentalhealth #emotionalintelligence #hsp

Weird signs you’ve been HSP or Empath all along ❤️ Save & Send this to someone who needs it ❤️ 1. Needing total silence after being around people. 2. Crying at adverts or something small. 3. Feeling someone’s mood shift before they’ve said anything. 4. Getting a headache or migraine after one busy day. 5. Snapping at someone over something small, as your system has absorbed too much. 6. Needing dimmer lights, harsh lights feel too much. 7. Avoiding busy places that are noisy as they make you feel on edge. 8. Being hyper attuned to people’s body language & emotions If this resonated follow this account for more advice ❤️ What would you add? Highly Sensitive Person is a term introduced by Elaine Aron to describe a personality trait, not a diagnosis. About fifteen to twenty percent of people are thought to have it. It means your nervous system processes experiences more deeply. You notice subtleties others miss, reflect a lot before making decisions, and feel emotions intensely. Joy can feel expansive. Criticism can feel heavy. Loud or chaotic environments can be overwhelming, and you may need quiet time to reset. The core traits are often described as depth of processing, overstimulation, emotional intensity, and sensitivity to subtleties. Sensitivity is not weakness. In supportive environments it becomes empathy, creativity, and insight. In invalidating environments it can turn into shame. The work is not to become less sensitive, but to regulate and see your sensitivity as a strength. 💌Diana #mentalhealth #therapy #explorepage✨ #reels #traumahealing

There’s something rare about people who still feel deeply. Who haven’t numbed out. Who let their tenderness guide them. They show us how to stay present in a world that often pulls us away from ourselves. If you’ve got someone like that in your life, hold them close. 💫 More reflections on Substack. For the ones who feel everything too deeply… You’re not “too much,” and your sensitivity isn’t a flaw. Noticing the small things, feeling every shift in energy, and loving with everything you have—that’s a gift. But your peace shouldn’t be tied to someone else’s presence, and your worth isn’t measured by how much reassurance you need. How do you remind yourself that you are enough, just as you are? 💙 Credits: @philosophaire_ #deepfeelers #highlysensitiveperson #selfworth #emotionalintelligence #healingjourney #innerpeace

Turns out there’s a reason why I… 🌼 *Need* to cut off every tag off every item of clothing 🌼 Startle so easily, sometimes (many times) even at inanimate objects 🌼 Get overwhelmed by large crowds 🌼 Have what my parter calls “super-sonic smell” (i.e. a very keen sense of smell) 🌼 Get ‘premonitions’, like knowing a few seconds before it happens that someone’s going to ring the doorbell 🌼 Get goosebumps (sometimes even tears) when I see something really beautiful, like a stunning sunset or a work of art (or listen to a beautiful song!) 🌼 Prefer hanging out with smaller groups of friends or one-on-one over large groups 🌼 Need plenty of “me-time” to recharge, especially after very social periods 🌼 Notice little details others usually miss, like a typo or a skewed frame 🌼 Easily connect with animals (and they’ll often gravitate towards me) 🌼 Can feel if someone’s upset, even when they don’t mention anything If you can relate to this these too and are wondering if you’re also a highly sensitive person (HSP), you can take my free test. Comment “HSP” and I’ll send you the link 💛 From a neuroscience perspective, high sensitivity (also referred to as sensory processing sensitivity) is an innate biological trait, not a personality flaw. Research shows that HSPs tend to have greater activation in areas involved in awareness, empathy, emotional processing and sensory integration, including the insula and parts of the amygdala-prefrontal network. This means an HSP’s nervous system doesn’t just register information – it processes it more deeply. Subtle cues like sounds, textures, smells, emotional shifts and even beauty are noticed more quickly and more intensely, which also means dysregulation can happen faster. These aren’t random quirks or weaknesses, but rather the natural expression of a nervous system wired to pick up more, feel more, and process more, for better *and* for worse. . . . #hsp #highlysensitiveperson #sensitivesoul #hochsensibel #sensitiveandstrong

If someone ever opens up to you: please just listen. Highly emotional people rarely get taken seriously for their feelings, because it seems like overreacting. Those feelings are valid. They are real. They hurt. Nothing’s more exhausting than justifying our feelings. #highlysensitiveperson #anxietyisreal #validfeelings #hypersensible
