British rock legends Radiohead have issued a scathing statement demanding the Department of Homeland Security immediately remove their 1997 song “Let Down” from an ICE social media video, calling the use unauthorized and uncleared.
In a statement released today, the band wrote:
“This use was unauthorized. We did not grant permission. We were not asked.”
The band pushed back hard on the implied messaging, noting that the song’s themes of alienation and dehumanization represent a critique of those forces — not a celebration of them.
The statement concluded with a direct and unambiguous message to @dhsgov officials.
This is the latest in a growing pattern of the Trump administration using music without artist consent — a practice that has drawn legal action and public condemnation from musicians across genres.
