Grief isn’t a straight line. It’s not something you climb once and reach the top of. It’s the fall, the crash, the slow climb — and sometimes, it’s all of that in the same day. You can think you’ve made progress, and then a song, a scent, or a memory sends you right back down again. That doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It means you’re human. Healing doesn’t erase the pain — it just teaches you how to fall softer each time. How to stand up faster. How to keep climbing, even when the steps feel endless. So if you’re still bouncing between okay and not okay, please know — you’re not doing it wrong. This is grief. This is what rebuilding looks like. 🤍 💌 Comment LETTER and I’ll send you the link to The Grief Letter — my weekly reflections, rituals, and reminders that healing isn’t linear, but it’s always possible. #grief #griefjourney #griefandloss #griefandlosssupport #griefawareness

There is a quiet honesty in grief that often stays hidden.
Many people tell me they “hold it together” for others, keeping their real experience tucked away. But grief deserves a place to breathe. When we name what feels true -gently, without pressure- we create space for the heart to soften.
Not to rush healing…
but to honor the depth of love that shaped us. Grief moves like a tide:
some days steady, some days heavy, some days surprisingly open.
However it feels for you today, your experience has meaning.
Your grief has intelligence.
Your love continues to speak. If one of these lines felt familiar, I’m glad you’re here.
You deserve support that meets you with presence, compassion, and understanding. What single word describes your grief today?
I’m here to listen. Living the connected way is about staying open to love after loss. It’s about trusting that connection doesn’t disappear, even though it changes form. For 11 is for grievers, believers, skeptics, and anyone in between. It’s for those missing someone deeply and wanting to feel close to them again, in a way that feels natural and personal. Inside this space, we share real stories of connection, gentle practices, and grounding tools meant to bring comfort, hope, and a sense of support. Nothing forced. Nothing you have to believe. Just an invitation to explore connection at your own pace. For those who feel ready for something more, we also created Better Together (a paid digital guide) that gently walks through what living the connected way can look like, with simple tools, reflections, and practices you can return to whenever you need them. It’s not required to be here. It’s simply there if it feels supportive. If you’d like more information, you can type TOGETHER and we’ll send the details to you. And if you’re just here to read, listen, or feel a little less alone, that’s enough too. You’re welcome here exactly as you are. With lots of love and gratitude, Rachel & Shane 🩵

Why does God take the good ones early? It is perhaps the heaviest question a human heart can ask. When we look at an empty chair or a photo of someone we lost too soon, the math never seems to add up. Why did the person who gave so much love get so little time? It feels unfair. It feels like a mistake. But here is the hard truth we often forget: We measure a life by duration, but God measures a life by donation. We look at the calendar and count the years; God looks at the heart and counts the impact. Think of it like a student taking a difficult exam. Some struggle in the classroom for hours. Others, who have mastered the material, finish their work early, hand in their paper, and get to leave the room while the rest are still working. Maybe your loved one didn’t “die young.” Maybe they just graduated early. Perhaps they loved so fiercely and lived so purely that they finished their earthly assignment faster than the rest of us. The world wasn’t worthy of them anymore. God saw that their work was done, and perhaps, He saw storms on the horizon that you couldn’t see. By bringing them home, He wasn’t hurting them; He was protecting them from the evil to come. I know this doesn’t take the pain away instantly. The pain is there because the love was real. Grief is simply the price of the ticket for having known someone that wonderful. It is all the unspent love gathering in the corners of your eyes. So, how do you walk this earth without them? You don’t move on from them; you move forward with them. You become the vessel that carries their light. Every act of kindness you do, every person you forgive, every moment you choose faith over fear that is their legacy living through you. They aren’t in your past. They are safe in your future, waiting for you to finish your assignment too. Some days I look up and just hope the people I’ve lost are proud of the woman I’m becoming. Grief changed me, but it didn’t stop me. I always prayed that my late wife Brittany could work in the sunset department. • I talk to God in a casual way like talking to a friend and I always ask him if it was possible to let Britt help out in heaven’s sunset department. She can be shy to ask so just start her out as an intern on Tuesdays. This sunset was on a Tuesday in Costa Rica just after our wedding anniversary and I like to think that some of them are just for me like this one. • It helps me in my grief to know that there are signs and that things still have meaning. So I pray, and I listen, and I do my best to continue forward. I fail constantly at these things but I won’t ever stop trying my best to carry this weight I feel and turn it into a good and happy life. • #griefjourney #widower #icandohardthings #grief #sunsets

Beloved, comment RELEASE if you know God is inviting you to loosen your grip and let someone go. 🌿 Sometimes the only true and faithful response is release. In 1 John 2:19 we hear a hard truth: some people leave because they were not meant to stay. Their absence may sting, but it can also be the teacher your heart needs. God can repurpose what feels like rejection into holy release. The heavens make room by removing what was not yours to carry. The ache is real, but the mercy is motion. There are promises still unfolding that need space to breathe. Beloved, whisper gratitude for what was. Forgive them for not being able to stay. Forgive yourself for wishing they would. Then lift your eyes toward the new grace gathering for you, grace that would not have fit if they were still here. If you’d like to continue the journey together, check out the links in my bio.

That’s why I’m talking about it now. Not to convince anyone or argue beliefs. But because this is what actually happened to me after she died. Everything changed when I realized she still existed. That she wasn’t gone. And that I could build a new kind of relationship with her on the other side of all that pain. That is what helped me start healing. Not someone’s opinion. But real experiences I couldn’t ignore. I’m sharing this for anyone who needs it. Especially the guys who feel like they’re carrying everything on their shoulders. If you want to walk this journey with my wife Rachel and me, or learn how we stay connected to our daughter across the veil, follow For 11. And if you want information about the book Rachel wrote with the practices that helped us reconnect, you can type TOGETHER and it will be sent to you automatically. We’re grateful you found us. -Shane and Rachel

Year one of grief feels impossible — like you’re barely surviving and everyone else is moving forward and thriving. But healing doesn’t mean forgetting. It means learning to carry love and loss together… and finding your footing again, one shaky step at a time. 💔➡️💗 If this is where you are right now, please know: it won’t always feel this heavy. You’re healing, even when it doesn’t feel like it. 💬 Comment “RESOURCES” if you’re finding your way through year one — or any year - and looking for supportive resources and tools. #griefjourney #griefsupport #hopeafterloss #grievingmom #healingafterloss #griefandhealing #lifeafterloss #stillstanding
