One of the best times to assess a horse’s conformation is before they’ve built a lot of muscle or weight. It might seem counterintuitive, but a lighter horse actually makes it easier to see their natural structure — both the strengths and any areas that may need support. In Gus’s case, Jane really likes what she sees: - A nice sloping shoulder, which helps with movement - Well-set withers, which will help a saddle sit more comfortably While he does need to gain weight and build muscle, the foundation is there. Looking at conformation early allows you to create a training program that works with the horse’s body — not against it — setting them up for a stronger, more comfortable future. Good structure first… muscle comes after. #HorseTraining #Horses #fyp #schoolingwithjane #Equestrian

One of the biggest mistakes people make when bringing a horse back into work is trying to do too much, too soon. Fitness isn’t built by running your horse into the ground. It’s built by consistent, thoughtful work that develops strength, balance, and recovery. When I start bringing a horse back into a program, I keep it simple: • Long, marching walk to rebuild baseline strength • Frequent transitions to engage the hind end and improve responsiveness • Long straight lines, adding hills or poles when possible to develop power and coordination Bonus tip: Start tracking your horse’s workouts and learn their baseline heart rate. Watching how quickly their heart rate returns to normal is one of the best ways to monitor improving fitness. A fit horse shouldn’t just feel tired. A fit horse feels stronger, easier to ride, and more balanced every week. Foundation first. Always. #horsefitness #horseconditioning #horseridingtips #horsemanship #ridereducation lonestarfarmwi

Real training. Real progress. Real results. A day in the life at of an Equine Professional looks a little like this👇 Student Sam putting in the work with Boomer—building a stronger, more balanced canter instead of just chasing speed. Student Scarlett taking the time to teach Jack how to properly lunge on a line—because groundwork isn’t optional, it’s foundational. And me with Sylvie, dialing in slow control and intentional body movement—because if you can’t do it slow, you definitely can’t do it fast. This is what correct training looks like. Not rushed. Not flashy. Just consistent, thoughtful work that actually builds broke, confident horses. If you’re serious about improving your horse (and not just going through the motions), you know where to find us. 🐎 • • • #CapCut #horsetraining #equestrian #horse #horses

A lot of riders start desensitizing their horses way too soon. Before you start waving ropes, flags, or other objects around your horse needs to understand pressure and release and how to search for the right answer. When that foundation is missing, desensitizing can actually create confusion instead of confidence. If you're feeling stuck in your training, I offer virtual coaching sessions to help riders work through problems and get to the root cause. #HorseTraining #Horsemanship #HorseEducation #VirtualHorseTraining #HorseRiders #VSEquine #CalmCoolCollected #WorldClassTraining #HorseTrainer #HorseLife #EquestrianLife

Horses investigate to see of the new thing is alive, (does it move if they bite it ) is it edible or feels good if they lay on it. They may not do all steps as they get older but young horses often do. Is a natural horse behavior and understanding this gives great insight for horse training. Remember this next time you cross water or sand to avoid a dunk or sand in your boots! Slow work isn’t optional—it’s where real horses are made. In this session with Sylvie, we’re dialing in the details: consistent lunging, intentional body placement, and building true collection from the ground up. No rushing, no shortcuts—just correct, thoughtful training that carries over when it actually counts. If your horse can’t move right slow, they won’t hold it together fast. Period. This is how you create softness, balance, and a horse that stays with you—not against you. Now booking horse training, riding lessons, online coaching and full-body equine bodywork sessions across GA, TN, and AL. Whether you’re starting from the ground or fine-tuning performance, I’ve got you covered—message me to get on the schedule. #HorseTraining #LungingWork #horsetrainer #EquestrianLife #trainsmart

Know when enough is enough, is a great skill that is sometimes under rated when working with horses. Being cognizant of how much your horse can do and still be the winner is a skill that any horse handler can achieve by observing and being mindful of how the horse is responding to the requests. I like to say that horsing around is a lot of fun but only when it is safe. However, taking into consideration our horse’s feeling if crucial for the “true unity” we all can be striving for. Let’s make sure that our horses are enjoy the work too. Be good to yourselves and to your horses. #horsingaround #equinewellness #horsesofinstagram
