International Day of People with Disability 💛 A day created to increase awareness, understanding, and acceptance — something we could all use a bit more of. So here’s Willow’s 2 cents: Don’t assume. Don’t tip-toe. Just get to know us. Because disabled people aren’t fragile or confusing — we’re just people. The purple silhouette multiplies into 5 silhouettes standing next to a single blue one. The copy reads “1 in 6 people worldwide has a disability. That’s more than a billion people.” We then see a blue circle over a purple circle with a stat inside. It reads “60 percent of people with disabilities feel excluded in the workplace.” The 60 percent stat dissolves into blue dots that represent 60 percent. The copy reads “Accenture is committed to making disability inclusion a top priority.” The next slide shows purple and white text on a black background. The copy reads “In 2024, we achieved a top score on the Disability Equality Index in all 8 participating countries: Brazil, Canada, Germany, India, Japan, Philippines, United Kingdom, The United States.” The next frame shows a world globe with blue dots glowing around it. The copy reads “45 accessibility centers around the globe, 143,000 allies, and 29 countries with disability-focused networks…we’re committed to foster a culture that is free from bias, where all our people can belong and thrive.” The frame fades to black with a purple Accenture logo in the center of the frame.]

Today is International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPWD) - a day to celebrate, learn, and take action ‼️ As a wheelchair user, I share a lot of fun parts of my life - travelling, using public transport, going to work etc, but what you don’t always see is the hidden cost: constant self-advocacy that comes with all of it 🥲 Every step of the way, I have to fight for access, speak up for basic rights, and navigate barriers that shouldn’t exist in the first place. And while I’m proud of what I achieve, it’s exhausting😓. This is where you come in. Non-disabled allies, we need you to step up and be part of the change. Here’s how you can help: ✅ Speak up when you see inaccessibility - don’t leave it all to us. For example, if you see a blocked ramp or a broken lift, report it. ✅ Call out ableism, whether it’s in conversations, workplaces, or online. ✅ Advocate for inclusive policies at work, school, and in your community. ✅ Don’t make assumptions - listen to disabled people about their needs and experiences. ✅ Educate yourself and others about accessibility and the disabled community. Being an ally doesn’t have to be complicated, but it does require action. IDPWD is a reminder that we’re all part of creating a more inclusive world. So, are you ready to roll with us? Let’s make a difference together. ♿🌍 #IDPWD #Inclusion #DisabledGirl #DisabledWoman #Inaccessible #DisabledAlly #TakeAction #Disability #Accessibility

What does disability inclusion really look like? Most people think disability inclusion is: • Having a ramp • Representation of a white manual wheelchair user • Spaces saying “we welcome everyone,” without removing any access barriers Often, it does not go much further than ticking a box. This International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the focus is “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress.” And real social progress means looking at inclusion properly. Disability inclusion should actually look like: • Meeting a wide range of access needs. This can include physical access like ramps, but also captions, alt text, sensory friendly spaces, and clear communication • Representation of a genuinely diverse group of disabled people, including people with different disabilities and people who are also part of other marginalised communities • Actively removing barriers so disabled people can live, work, create, and participate in all aspects of society Inclusion is not a statement or a symbol. It is action. And without disabled people, there is no real social progress. What do you think disability inclusion should look like? Share your thoughts in the comments, and let’s talk about what needs to change. And let me know where you have seen positive disability inclusion & representation today! #InternationalDayOfPersonsWithDisabilities #IDPWD #DisabilityInclusion #DisabilityRights #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs #InclusiveDesign #DisabilityAwareness #WorldDisabilityDay

We, the people of the Commonwealth of Australia are born with all our inalienable rights. No government, no criminal, no law can take those rights from us. Our rights are protected by the magna Carter 1214, the English Bill of Rights 1688, international covenant on civil and political rights 1990, and our Commonwealth of Australia Constitution act 1900 if you don’t know your rights you can’t protect them.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m proud to be disabled. To be clear, I’m not proud of the hardships, the discrimination, or the lack of accessibility, but none of those issues exist because my disability. They exist because of society, because of learned behaviors, because of ableism. What I’m proud of is the strength those hardships have given me, the community of support the discrimination has led me to find, and the voice I’ve developed to advocate for myself and others. And mostly today, I’m proud that I’m proud of my blindness because I never thought I would be. Living in a world that demonizes disability makes it hard to not only accept it, but to turn it into something positive that’s worth loving about yourself and I can wholeheartedly say that’s where I am today. Thank you to the disability activists that paved the way for me, the ones who stand beside me, and the ones still trying to find themselves. We’ve got a long way to go before this world is truly equitable for all of us but together we are stronger and we’re going to get there.
