Today is my 22nd re-birthday! ❤️ August 17, 2003 started like any other day but would end with life changing events. When i had what i thought was just a seizure and landed me in the ER ended up being something so much more. I told the nurse that was working me up that I still didn’t feel right and for her to please not leave me because something was going to happen. She squeezed my hand and said she wasn’t going far and just had to talk to the dr and would be right back. I saw her close the curtain behind her and that is the last thing I remember. From what I’ve been told that is when I went into cardiac arrest. My ex ran for help and they called a code blue. Did you know that only 25% of people who go into SCA at the hospital survive? Outside of the hospital it’s only 10%. This is why knowing CPR and having life saving ICDs nearby in public are so important. After I was defibrillated and brought back, I regained consciousness and was informed what happened and that all this time the cause of my “seizure” events were actually related to a serious heart condition called Long Qt Syndrome aka “sudden death syndrome”. I was immediately started on medication to help control my heart rate and scheduled for an AICD implant 2 days later. Having all of this happen was shock enough but to have it happen while I was 8 weeks pregnant was scary because I was worried about what would happen to him. They assured me during my ultrasound after my SCA that all was good and there would be an OB in surgery with us monitoring him the whole time. I spent 8 days in ICU recovering from everything and spent years adjusting to life with LQTS and an AICD. Long #QT Syndrome an #inherited heart problem #LQTS is a condition that is characterized by a delay in #repolarization of the #heart after the initial #depolarization and #ventricular contraction. The electrical system of the heart normally functions in a pattern that causes the atria (upper chambers) and then ventricles (lower chambers) to contract. This pattern of normal electrical signals produces a normal ECG with Q, R, S, and T waves. In long QT syndrome, the electrical signals are delayed because the electrical system cannot recharge fast enough to carry a signal. This condition increases the risk of a life-threatening #arrhythmia known as #ventriculartachycardia. Short-term treatment Defibrillator: In a case of acute arrhythmia that fails to revert to normal on its own (sudden cardiac arrest), an electric shock is necessary to reset the heart's rhythm back to normal. Long-term treatment Medications: These include prescription drugs (most often beta blockers), minerals or supplements that are designed to keep the heart in normal rhythm. Surgery: Left cardiac sympathetic denervation ( #LCSD ) is a special procedure that makes it harder for the heart to enter a dangerous long QT rhythm. سندرم کیوتی طولانی (Long QT Syndrome/ LQTS) اختلالی است که در پی ابتلا به آن فعالیت الکتریکی طبیعی و معمول قلب (ضربان قلب) تحت‌تأثیر قرار می‌گیرد. مرگ ناگهانی و آریتمی‌های خطرناک و کنترل‌ناپذیر قلبی از جدی‌ترین پیامدهای ابتلا به آن هستند در برخی موارد، ابتلا به سندرم کیوتی طولانی بیمار هیچ علامت و نشانه‌ای ندارد. دادن آزمایش ژنتیک، بررسی نوار قلب، آزمایش خون از راههای پی بردن به این بیماری است. غش‌کردن یا سنکوپ (Syncope) رایج‌ترین نشانه سندروم کیوتی طولانی است. برانگیخته‌شدن احساساتی مثل خشم یا وحشت و هیجان‌زده‌شدن احتمال سنکوپ را برای کسی که مستعد آن است بیشتر خواهد کرد. برخی از افراد پیش از غش‌کردن علائم و نشانه‌هایی مثل احساس سرسبکی، تپش قلب، خستگی یا تاری دید را تجربه می‌کنند. برای برخی هم هیچ نشانه‌ای ندارد و ناگهانی اتفاق می‌افتد. تشنج نشانه دیگری است که برخی بیماران مبتلا به سندرم کیوتی طولانی ممکن است تجربه کنند. در بیشتر مواقع، پس از بروز نشانه‌های مذکور، ریتم ضربان قلب به حالت معمول و طبیعی خود بازمی‌گردد و شرایط عادی می‌شود. اگر این اتفاق به‌خودی‌خود نیفتد یا اگر به‌موقع از دستگاه شوک الکتریکی برای بازگرداندن ریتم قلب به حالت عادی استفاده نشود، امکان مرگ ناگهانی بیمار وجود خواهد داشت. عامل اصلی ابتلا به سندروم کیوتی مسائل ارثی و ژنتیکی است. از علل دیگر ابتلا می توان به: مصرف بعضی داروها(داروهای ضدتهوع، داروهای ضدافسردگی و ضدروان‌پریشی، کاهش کلسترول و دیابت، قرص‌های ضدقارچ، داروهای مخصوص تنظیم ریتم ضربان قلب، اریترومایسین و آزیترومایسین)، ویروس کرونا، کمبود کلسیم، کمبود منیزیم،کمبود پتاسیم و بی‌اشتهایی عصبی اشاره کرد. به‌طور کلی برای درمان این سندرم از یک یا چند مورد از راهکارهای زیر استفاده می‌شود:تغییر در سبک زندگی، درمان دارویی، کارگذاری دستگاه در قلب. سندرم کیوتی طولانی اگر از نوع ژنتیکی آن باشد، یعنی اگر از پدر و مادر به بدن کودک راه یافته باشد، کاری برای پیشگیری از آن نمی‌توان کرد https://www.chetor.com/236073 به امید سلامتی تمامی بیماران🌷 #تنها_نیستیم_اما_نادریم #بنیاد_بیماری_های_نادر_ایران #آریتمی_قلبی #سندرم_کیوتی #QT_syndrome # Long_QT_Syndrome # LQTS
