Context 👇 . . . . . . . . In early 1917, Vladimir Lenin was living in exile in Switzerland. He had been forced to leave Russia because of his revolutionary activities against Nicholas II. But in February 1917, something unexpected happened people in Russia started massive protests due to food shortages, war exhaustion, and economic crisis during World War I. The protests became so big that the Tsar was forced to abdicate. Lenin wasn’t even in Russia when the Tsar fell. He later returned in April 1917 and then led the Bolsheviks in the October Revolution. 👉 So basically, the first revolution started without him but he made sure to take control of the second one. . . . . . . #ussr #lenin #russia #coldwar #geopolitics
