I didn’t “beat” my MCAS overnight — I calmed it. Once I stopped fighting my body and started listening to it, everything changed. The real turning point wasn’t another supplement or protocol — it was realizing my body wasn’t broken. It was overprotected. Every reaction, every flare, every panic moment was my immune system screaming, “I don’t feel safe.” So instead of suppressing symptoms, I started creating safety: Clean air, clean food, calm thoughts. I simplified. I slowed down. And my body finally exhaled. MCAS isn’t just an immune issue — it’s a safety issue. Heal the fear. Calm the chaos. The body remembers how to feel safe again. 🌿 #MCAS #MoldIllness #MastCellActivation #MycotoxinSensitivity #mastcellactivationsyndrome

OK. So this is a scary video to put out there as I’m definitely not looking my best, but that’s what MCAS (and many other conditions) does to you some days, right?! 😳 There are dozens of possible symptoms of mast cell activation syndrome, and we all have different ones. They can be skin issues, gut issues, neurological and more. I had a lot of these from other diagnosed conditions, but one day I started to get really painful facial flushing. It felt like severe sunburn, in the middle of winter. Walking to work I figured I may have a virus, and that it would last a week or so. That was about ten years ago. It was the sign to me that I needed medical help as something was different, and incredibly painful. These days I still have flushing. I have it right now as I’m typing this. But it comes and goes, is much milder, and usually I know what my trigger is. I guess what I’m saying is that if you’re worried about a new symptom then be sure to see a medical doctor. I know that can be tough, and I had to see quite a few to get the right diagnosis as MCAS isn’t well known. But it’s worth getting second, third, fourth or fifth opinions. Oh and the sweaty face and unwashed hair was because I had been walking/ jogging 😜 📌 Follow @lowhistaminekitchen and @through.the.fibro.fog for MCAS resources and low histamine recipes too! . . . . . #histamine #flushing #facialflushing #mcas #mcad #mastcellactivationsyndrome #mastcellactivationdisorder #mastcell #mastcellactivation #chronicillness #chronicillnessawareness #spoonies #spoonielife

What is MCAS, and why is it making you feel like your body’s reacting to everything? Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) happens when your mast cells go rogue, releasing histamine and other inflammatory chemicals at the wrong time, in the wrong amounts. This results in: ✔️ Hives, swelling, nausea, bloating, flushing, itching, dizziness, and other symptoms. ✔️ Random reactions that don’t make any sense. ✔️ A body that feels inflamed, hypersensitive, and out of control. But, with the right plan, your symptoms don’t have to control you! The first step? Identify and minimize triggers like: 👉 Certain foods. Common triggers include aged/fermented foods, alcohol, vinegar, leftovers, citrus, shellfish, and histamine-rich foods like tomatoes or spinach. Start with a low-histamine diet to reduce the load. 👉 Environmental triggers like mold, fragrances, pollen, chemicals, dust mites, or EMFs. 👉 Infections. Underlying viruses (like Epstein-Barr), Lyme, or mold/mycotoxins can keep mast cells on edge. 👉 Medications + supplements because some (like NSAIDs, antibiotics, or even certain probiotics) can trigger mast cells. 👉 Stress. In fact, both psychological and physical stress, especially when chronic, are major mast cell activators. Can you think of one thing in your life that could currently be contributing to a reaction? #MCASAwareness #MastCellActivation #HistamineIntolerance #RootCauseHealing #DrBeckyCampbell #InflammationSupport #FunctionalMedicine

🙋🏼‍♀️ Raise your hand if you were given a garbage dump diagnosis because your doctor had no idea what was really going on? That was my story 10+ years ago when my body was falling apart, I broke out in “spontaneous hives”, had “IBS”, anxiety, constant bloating, constipation, migraines, food sensitivities, PMS, severe fatigue, chemical sensitivities just to name a few. I had a strong hunch that I had parasites because I would get really intense symptoms around the time of the full moon. I knew I was exposed to mold in multiple places. I figured I have lots of environmental toxins/ heavy metals since I was living and working in very urban areas. And this is exactly what functional lab testing revealed to me. What the doctors said was spontaneous, I found the root causes for. This led me to a 9 month healing journey that completely changed my life. If you are tired of suffering with symptoms you know have a root cause and are ready to find out exactly what that is, ❗Comment LABS And I’ll share how you can order these exact labs and complete them at home. Is it Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS)? 😷🧬 Many people are living with unexplained symptoms and don’t realize mast cells could be the root cause. ✨ Common MCAS Symptoms: • Hives, flushing, rashes • Itchy skin or eyes • Swelling around the eyes and lips • Brain fog or anxiety • Lightheadedness or fainting • Fatigue and chronic pain • Digestive issues (nausea, bloating, diarrhea) • Respiratory issues (wheezing, congestion) • Reactions to heat, fragrances, or chemicals • Food sensitivities or “mystery” allergies 🩺 Tests to ask your doctor for: • Serum tryptase • Plasma histamine • 24-hour urine for prostaglandin D2 • 24-hour urine for leukotriene E4 • Chromogranin A • Heparin level • DAO (Diamine Oxidase) if histamine intolerance is suspected 💡 Many of these tests must be done during or shortly after a flare for accurate results. If you feel like you’re reacting to “everything” and not getting answers—this might be the missing piece. 💥 #MCAS #MastCellActivation #UnexplainedSymptoms #Autoimmune #FunctionalMedicine #RootCauseHealing #ChronicIllness #InvisibleIllness #HealingCaveLady Have you ever had these symptoms?

Here’s how you may feel when you come out fight-or-flight after being in this survival state for years 👇🏻. We don’t always feel joy, peace, and connection right away. ⭐️there’s a step in between ⭐️. First, what happens in a state of stress? When you are in acute stress, cortisol can increase, and you can feel stressed, overwhelmed, and anxious. When the stress response continues, cortisol depletes and plummets. This is when you can feel burnout. After using tools to move through the state of chronic stress, your body needs to recalibrate. You may feel the need for more rest because you’ve gone from DO to HALT. Now, it’s time for the body to rest. Let’s normalize this for our bodies today. If you need some guidance breaking the state of fight-or-flight, I have a free guide + video for you! Simply comment below “guide,” and I’ll DM you the link 👇🏻.

Really trying to find something that doesn’t feel so rigid but still helps my MCAS symptoms… I’ve noticed keeping my blood sugar more stable helps a lot, and the low histamine diet has helped too. But unless I’m following everything perfectly, I don’t feel great. And I just don’t want my life to feel like a strict rulebook. I love traveling, going out to eat with friends, or grabbing dairy-free ice cream on a random Tuesday. Trying to find that 80/20 balance where I can feel good and still live my life 🤍 #mastcellactivationsyndrome #mcas #mastcellactivation #chronicillnessawareness #chronicillnesslife

Salt and compression are the first things most people hear when they’re diagnosed with POTS or dysautonomia. But what I’ve recently learned and have firsthand experience with is the role of overactive mast cells in driving the symptoms of dysautonomia. Mast cells are immune cells located throughout the body (skin, gut, bladder, blood vessels, fascia, nerves). When triggered, they release histamine and other inflammatory mediators that can trigger autonomic responses and affect blood vessel tone, heart rate, gut motility, nerve sensitivity, etc. Common clues mast cells may be involved include frequent skin flushing, heat intolerance, scent or food sensitivities, headaches, dermatographia, diarrhea or nausea, sudden “adrenaline” surges, and symptom flares related to the menstrual cycle, infections, or stress. Since treating overactive mast cells in my own body, I’ve had a significant reduction in my POTS symptoms. I’m still working on finding the perfect ratio of supplements and lifestyle factors across my cycle, but the improvements I’m noticing are astonishing. If you have POTS or dysautonomia, have you noticed this connection? If not, and you want a deeper dive on regulating strategies, comment MAST CELLS and I will follow up. #dysautonomiaawarenessmonth #mastcellactivation #potsawareness #autonomicdysfunction #chronicillness #hypermobileehlersdanlossyndrome #POTS #MCAS

You are not crazy, you just have histamine intolerance or mast cell activation syndrome! I will be sharing this as long as I live, because it would have saved me 15 years of my life. I am posting this with the genuine hope that someone who listens or shares this information can get the proper diagnosis and treatment when they have a condition like MCAS, histamine intolerance, Dysautonomia, and common co-occurring or misdiagnosed conditions. Many times these are misdiagnosed as mental health disorders and the treatment with traditional psychiatric drugs can in some cases (mine) make things worse. I believe that there is a root cause like histamine intolerance for the majority of mental health diagnoses we hear about and that we cannot separate mental and physical health as there is no separation. #nervoussystemregulation #nervoussystemhealing #nervoussystem #MCAS #mastcellactivation #mastcellactivationsyndrome #dysautonomia #dysautonomiaawareness #pots #chronicillness #hypermobility #symptoms
