GRIt’s my 4 year loc-anniversary 🩵 best hair decision I’ve made, but honestly sometimes on social media it’s so easy to compare myself to other loc baddies or natural hair girlies and I forget that my hair is exactly what I wanted it to look like when I started my journey four years ago, so I’m loving the journey frizz and all. And truly I feel the most beautiful in between re-ties when my frizz starts to peek through.
Locs have taught me to love myself in ways I’ve never imagined. I also thought I had difficult hair (texturism is so real oof) but locs have genuinely made me fall in love with my hair and self and also natural beauty in such beautiful ways.
I honestly forget how many I have it’s 400+ I think

SOI knew I wanted to try a new look this 2026 but didn’t quite know what it would be; but I knew I wanted freedom from frequent salon visits but to still look good, then I looked at my friends with locs @ajokee and @ellenukpi and I was inspired to loc my hair too.
Thanks to the good people @locvilla_ for the good customer service. I’m officially part of the locs gang🙌🏾.

1. Microlocs made my thin hair look thicker—period.
Not because my hair magically changed, but because hundreds of small locs create visual density. Less scalp showing. More body. More presence. Thin hair finally looks full.
2. Fine hair actually locks faster.
My thin strands interlock easily, which means my Microlocs matured quicker and started swelling sooner. That swelling is what gives you structure, body, and visible thickness over time.
3. Your hair keeps growing because it’s no longer breaking off.
Thin hair doesn’t struggle with growth—it struggles with retention. Microlocs eliminate daily manipulation, detangling, heat, and over-styling. Less breakage = more length and fullness.
4. Volume increases the longer you have them.
Early Microlocs can look delicate. Mature Microlocs? Full, rounded, and substantial. Each loc expands as it matures, and the collective effect is real volume—not flat, stringy hair.
5. Microlocs are easier on weak roots and thinning areas.
