MYToday I tried one of the most surprising bits of music gear I’ve seen in some time and which sounded utterly forking facemelting on just an Arturia Drumbrute - it’s the upcoming @rodec_audio and @sherman_filterbank collab, called the Ministyler - it’s a stereo baby Sherman Filterbank module which goes in a new format “100 Series” RODEC One desktop case (there’s also a 500 series adapter that it will fit in).
It’s a combo of multimodal filter, drive, envelope follower with FM, and something normal goes in and total insanity emerges.
It’s capable of absolutely pulverising a speaker and your ears if you’re not careful (red knobs denote danger parameters I think) but also I kept finding all these mental 90’s daft punk moments on it.
There are more modules in the format and I think the module and the case is going to be around £600 as a package (leaving two slots free for more 100 series modules too).
Really really surprising and welcome discovery and am talking to them about doing a demo of it which would be amazing if so, been thinking I need to do something with the Sherman Filterbank forever and this comes along.
