Here’s why I’d choose Perth every single time… 🩵🇦🇺 💫 Perth is too isolated Yes, Perth is isolated… from other Australian cities. But internationally? Bali is closer than Sydney. Perth → Bali ✈️ ~3.5 hrs Perth → Sydney ✈️ ~5 hrs 💫 There’s nothing to do WA has some of the world’s best beaches, lakes, wineries, hiking, sunsets, space, calm… without the crowds. And did I mention the FREE events put on by the city and in the community too. 💫 Cost of living: Let’s talk RENT Perth rentals are still more affordable than the east coast. 4x2 family home Perth: $750-$850/week Sydney: $900–$1,200+/week Melbourne: $800–$1,000+/week 💫 Buying a home In Perth, home ownership still feels possible. Perth: ~$650k–$750k Melbourne: ~$900k+ Sydney: $1M+ Same budget… very different lifestyle. 💫 East Coast perks The east coast is amazing. More cities close together, faster domestic travel, huge tourism and events. 💫 Perth lifestyle trade-off Perth reality ✨ Perth gives you space, slower pace, beaches on your doorstep, and easier international travel. #MovingToAustralia #MovingToPerth #LifeInPerth #PerthVsSydney #PerthVsMelbourne

• You don’t respect personal boundaries Saying “no”, taking space and minding your own business is normal here • You’re not ready for high taxes They’re real, and yes, noticeable. But they fund safety, healthcare and public services • You expect things to be handed to you Australia values independence. No one owes you anything, but you’re free to build your own life • You don’t like following rules Laws, queues, workplace standards, noise rules. They actually matter here • You can’t accept diversity Different cultures, accents, lifestyles and backgrounds are part of everyday life • You think moving will magically fix your life Australia offers opportunities, not shortcuts. You still have to do the work #australia #movingtoaustralia #lifeinaustralia #australianmigrant

No one warned me that moving to Australia would completely mess up my expectations of life 😭 I came here thinking I’d hustle, struggle a bit, maybe relax someday… but instead I accidentally walked into good work-life balance, clean air, safe cities, weekends that actually feel like weekends, and somehow the energy to go on hikes for fun??? For FUN??? The things that felt like luxury back home — peace, time, financial stability, supportive work culture — are just… normal here. No weekend work guilt. No explaining sick days. No constant stress about money. Just vibes, nature, and a life that feels lighter than I ever imagined. Honestly, absolute trap. Would not recommend if you enjoy chaos and burnout. 🇦🇺✨ #livinginaustralia #lifeinaustralia #movingabroad #immigrantlife #australia

Moving to Australia won’t fix your life… unless you know these 5 things ⬇️
Australia can change everything, but only if you actually let it. 1. Making friends requires effort.
If you don’t show up alone to the beach, the gym, the hostel bar, the Meetup… you’ll stay lonely. 2. The cost of living is ridiculous.
But the lifestyle payoff is huge. You spend more time outside than inside, and suddenly a “normal day” feels like a holiday. 3. Your routine will transform you.
Sunset swims, sunrise walks, living near the ocean. Your nervous system will thank you, even if your bank account cries. 4. Homesickness still hits.
Even when you’re living your dream postcard life. It’s normal. Let it pass instead of hiding from it. 5. Treat your life here like you’re still travelling.
New cafés, new suburbs, mini adventures during the week, planning your next trip. That mindset is what keeps Australia feeling magical instead of… routine. If you’re moving here soon, save this. It’ll make your transition way less chaotic. 🤍🇦🇺🌅 #solotravel #travel #backpacking #movingabroad #whvaustralia

5 things I’m learning after moving to Western Australia 🇦🇺 🔸 Life happens outside. Parks, beaches, night markets, kids everywhere, events all the time. You don’t “plan” to go out — you just do. Sun, space and fresh air are part of daily life. 🔸 WA is insanely beautiful (and those sunsets…). The ocean, the light, the open spaces — and the sunsets are something else. We loved Queensland, but we genuinely missed this part. Here, sunsets actually stop you in your tracks. 🔸 Food quality is on another level. Fresh produce, great cafés, simple food done properly. You can taste the difference when things don’t need to travel halfway across the world to reach your plate. 🔸 Everyone complains about the cost of living here… but perspective matters. I hear it all the time in WA: housing, groceries, prices. Probably a bit spoiled 😅 Anyone who’s spent time recently in QLD, NSW or VIC knows WA is still playing a different game. 🔸 Compared to Italy, the biggest change is time and balance. In Italy you live well, but you’re always adapting, juggling, making things work. Here the days start earlier, life feels simpler, and you actually feel like you use your time better — especially with kids. You miss people. You don’t really miss the lifestyle you left. Once WA gets under your skin, it’s hard to let go. I thought I was well prepared but .. 👇 within 48 hours, I was lost 💀 Stores closed at 5pm when I needed groceries. Medicine cost me $80 (would’ve been $5 back home). I applied to 20 part time jobs online... got 2 replies. Nobody tells you the REAL survival tips. So here are 15 things I learned the hard way: 🚗 Transport rules differ by state (NSW ≠ VIC) 💊 Bring your medicines - they’re expensive here 💼 Walk into cafes with your resume (this actually works) 🛒 Shops close EARLY - stock up on weekends 🌦️ Pack for all seasons... in one day 🗣️ “Arvo” = afternoon (you’ll use this daily) 💸 Budget weekly, not monthly - it adds up FAST 🛂 Know your visa work limits (don’t risk it) 🏉 Pretend to care about AFL - instant friends 🌐 Join Facebook groups BEFORE you land ☕ Find your local hangout spot early 🙏 Manners matter - “cheers mate” goes far 📅 Doctor appointments take DAYS (plan ahead) 💪 Some people will test you - stay confident 🎉 Free events > expensive tourist traps Already in Australia? What would you add? 👇 Moving soon? Save this - you’ll need it. #AustraliaLife #MovingToAustralia #StudyInAustralia #InternationalStudent #australia 🔍 Topics: Student life Australia | Part time jobs Australia | Australia work visa | First week in Australia | International student survival

We love the sunshine story. But financially? This move takes strategy. Too many families arrive underprepared, stressed and scrambling. Australia rewards the prepared. Not the hopeful. If you’re planning to move, have you actually calculated the full first 6 months cost? 💰 Double rent while you wait 💰 Car deposits 💰 School uniforms & book packs 💰 Furniture 💰 Bond + 4 weeks rent upfront 💰 Slower income at the start And here’s the part people don’t say: If you don’t have a financial cushion, the first 6 months can be brutal. The dream is possible. But planning beats blind optimism. #movingtoaustralia #relocating #familymove #lifereset #savingtotravel

One week ago we moved to Australia from the Netherlands. Here’s my honest comparison. 🇳🇱 vs 🇦🇺 1. The “hi” situation. In the Netherlands we say hi to everyone. Shop. Lift. Hotel. Strangers in your village. It’s just normal. Here I walk in, smile, say hi. Crickets. Complete silence. Is it just me or is this a thing? 😅 2. The housing situation. In the Netherlands everyone complains it’s overcrowded. No houses. No space. Perth is massive. Empty roads. Space everywhere. And still. Not many houses available. Same problem. Better weather. 🏠 3. The food situation. Netherlands: we cook every day. Or minimum broodje kaas (bread with cheese). Australia: ready meals everywhere. Cheap restaurants. Asian food for $12. Snacks I’ve never seen in my life. Haven’t cooked once this week. Zero guilt. This might be my favourite thing. 🍜 4. The bike situation. We are Dutch. We assumed we would just cycle. Both work in CBD. Seemed logical. Arrived. 38 degrees. No bike lanes. We drive now. We take the bus. Someone please tell me there’s somewhere nice to bike here. 🚲😢 5. The crowds situation. Went to the zoo on a public holiday. Said “wow it’s so empty.” Heard Australians next to us saying “it’s so crowded today.” We said nothing. Also the beach. Empty. On a weekend. In summer. In the Netherlands this beach would have three million people and someone’s elbow in your face. 🏖️ One week in. Miss my bike. Don’t miss the rain. 🇳🇱 → 🇦🇺 Curious, will my opinion on any of these change in 3 months? I’ll report back. 👀 Perth locals, what am I missing? 👇 #perthisok #australia #netherlands #relocation #movingtoaustralia

A quick 13 points checklist for immigrants to Australia 1.  Get an Australian SIM card Airport kiosks or nearby stores make this easy. You’ll need a local number for maps, banking OTPs, job calls, and everything else. 2. Apply for your TFN (Tax File Number) Do this online as soon as you have an address. You can’t legally work without it. 3. Open a bank account Most banks allow new arrivals to open accounts with just a passport. 4. Get a transport card Myki (Melbourne), Opal (Sydney), Go Card (Brisbane) Public transport is your daily companion. Student concessions save a lot. 5. Arrange accommodation and inspect rentals Hostels, shared housing, or short stays first. Don’t rush into long leases. Sort temporary accommodation & inspect rentals. Never lock a rental without inspection. Photos can lie, reality doesn’t. 6. Start applying for jobs (even casual ones) Fix your resume to Australian standards and start applying—even casual or part-time roles help you settle faster. Retail, hospitality, warehouses—Australian experience matters more than titles. 7. Set up a MyGov account This links your TFN, Medicare (if eligible), Centrelink, and other government services. 8. Get familiar with Centrelink & student support services Even if you don’t need it now, knowing your options helps later. 9. Register with a GP & understand OSHC/Medicare Don’t wait till you’re sick. Know which clinics accept your health cover. 10. Apply for a Proof of Age Card Very important. Many places (bars, clubs, even events) don’t like carrying passports. A Proof of Age card is widely accepted and safer to carry. 11. Register with your embassy / note emergency numbers Just for safety and peace of mind. Emergency number in Australia is 000. 12. Learn basic local rules & etiquette Queuing, punctuality, workplace culture, road rules, small things, big impact. 13. Give yourself time to settle emotionally Jet lag, homesickness, culture shock, it’s all normal. Be kind to yourself. Follow for more such tips. #MovingToAustralia #AustraliaLife #StudentVìsa #AustraliaTips #NewlnAustralia

You move from the UK to Australia and your washing dries in 2 minutes flat ☀️🇦🇺 Back home living in the UK it was: ✔ Radiator shuffle ✔ Dehumidifier humming 24/7 ✔ “Is it dry or just cold?” ✔ Three days later… still damp Now? You hang it outside… Go make a coffee… Come back and it’s basically sun-baked and ready to wear. No mildew smell. No indoor clothes jungle. No arguing about who forgot to open the window. Just sunshine doing its thing. Honestly, no one prepares you for how elite Australian laundry life is. #uktoaustralia #expatlife #movingtoaustralia #lifeinaustralia #australia
