Next Friday (2000) is the sequel to the cult classic Friday (1995), part of the beloved Friday comedy franchise created by Ice Cube and DJ Pooh.
Craig Jones (Ice Cube) is back in South Central L.A., still jobless and chilling. Trouble hits when his old nemesis Deebo (Tommy “Tiny” Lister Jr.) escapes prison and comes looking for revenge after Craig helped put him away in the first film. To keep Craig safe, his dad (John Witherspoon) ships him off to live with his Uncle Elroy (Don “D.C.” Curry), who hit the lottery and moved to the suburbs in Rancho Cucamonga.
There, Craig meets his goofy cousin Day-Day (Mike Epps), who works at Pinky’s record store, and gets tangled in more chaos: tax troubles, creepy neighbors, the Joker Brothers (a trio of wannabe thugs), parties gone wrong, and Deebo showing up anyway. It’s all about surviving another crazy day in a new spot, with the same “one crazy Friday” energy but more suburban absurdity.
