This is a big anniversary: Thirty years ago today, OMC's 'How Bizarre' went to No. 1 on the New Zealand Singles Chart.
Pauly Fuemana/OMC. alongside producer Alan Jansson and Aotearoa indie label Huh! Records, would repeat that feat around the world, eventually topping the US pop charts in September 1997.
It was named the biggest hit in NYC that year and played on US radio over a million times in 1997 alone.
'How Bizarre' was first released in December 1995, and was picked up quickly by urban Auckland station Mai FM.
