These three standards might not seem like much BUT don’t underestimate what they can unlock for you in terms of athleticism and pain free movement. 1️⃣ Pancake elbows to floor. This is a combination of three primary ranges. Adductors, hamstrings and spinal flexion. 2️⃣ Pike elbows to the floor. This primarily assesses your posterior chain tension and spinal flexion. ⚠️ Some ppl won’t manage elbows to floor and still have ample range imo due to their relative limb lengths. 3️⃣ This is the most imporatnt 👑 everyone should strive for 90° or slightly better and keep it for life. This is a true test of hamstring range as there is no spinal flexion happening. These are three of the 18 initial standards I run clients through when we start working together, goal ! More arthritic, less pain less time training. 💪🏽🦍🦶🏼 More life on the other side. You Asked, I Delivered - The Sciatic Nerve FLOSS! This is the follow-up everyone’s been waiting for - the full sciatic nerve floss, not just the tensioning drill. Subtle difference. Massive neuro-mechanical benefit. 1️⃣ Mobilisation vs Flossing Both are forms of neurodynamics, but they target different mechanisms. Nerve mobilisation (a general term) moves neural tissue to reduce adhesions and restore gliding. Flossing specifically alternates lengthening one end of the nerve while shortening the other, keeping overall tension similar while the nerve slides within its sheath. This technique improves axoplasmic flow, reduces mechanical sensitivity, and re-educates the nervous system’s tolerance to motion. 2️⃣ The Movement From a split-stance position: Front leg: straight, heel down. Back leg: knee softly bent. As you dorsiflex your front ankle, lift your eyes and extend your neck (spinal cord shortens, sciatic lengthens). As you plantarflex the foot, drop your head down (spinal cord lengthens, sciatic shortens). Your hands face palms-up, encouraging slight external rotation through the shoulders adding a gentle fascial stretch along the posterior chain. You’re not stretching the nerve. You’re moving it. The motion glides the sciatic nerve through the piriformis, hamstrings and neural sheath restoring safe, coordinated neural mobility. 3️⃣ NRE The nervous system thrives on motion - not just muscle motion, but neural motion. By alternating tension across the spine and sciatic chain, you teach your body that these ranges are safe again. This is the NRE protocol in action - assisted relearning of pain-free movement - novel movement through safe neural signalling. Stop at tension, never pain. Try 10–15 gentle reps per side.
