The fact that nearly all the apostles died as martyrs is one of the most powerful historical arguments used to validate the identity and claims of Jesus. The amount of faith each apostle needed in order to willingly endure lives of endless persecution is often understated. These men were hated, hunted, imprisoned, exiled and executed brutally, yet through it all they never wavered, often preaching and forgiving until their final breaths. After being thrown off the pinnacle of a temple, James (Son of Alphaeus) is said to have prayed for his executioners, saying “Lord, forgive them, for they know not what they do” prior to being stoned and beaten to death. According to the legend, the man who brought James (Son of Zebedee) to judgment was so moved by the apostle’s courage and conviction during his trial that he converted on the spot. As James was being led away to his execution, the former accuser fell at his feet, confessed his new faith, and asked for forgiveness. They were then both beheaded together. That these men shared such unshakable faith and embodied Christ through everything they endured proves beyond any reasonable doubt that they witnessed something profound after Jesus’ crucifixion: His Resurrection. We cannot even begin to imagine the greatness of the reward that awaited them in God’s Kingdom when they rejoined Christ. #jesusislord #christ #christianity #jesus #thechosen

Born in the fires of conquest after 640 AD, when Muslim rulers forced conversions, imposed crushing taxes on Christians, and marked non-converts with the cross as a badge of shame and subjugation. Coptic parents turned that mark of humiliation into an unbreakable vow: tattooing it on their children’s wrists—even infants—so that if families were torn apart, children kidnapped, boys conscripted into Islamic armies, or parents martyred, the child would forever bear the truth: ‘I belong to Christ.’ Through Roman oppression, Islamic caliphates, heavy jizya taxes, forced conversions, church burnings, mob violence, abductions of women and girls, and modern-day harassment by extremists who hunt by this very sign—this cross has never faded.
