PhonePe UPI Biometric Payment refers to a new way to authorize UPI transactions using your phone’s biometric features — like fingerprint or face unlock — instead of typing your UPI PIN every time. This feature is being rolled out across UPI apps (including PhonePe) under guidelines from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
What “Biometric UPI Payment” Means
Biometric Authentication: You can approve UPI payments by scanning your fingerprint or using face recognition built into your smartphone. This replaces entering your UPI PIN for supported transactions.
Phone & OS-Based: The biometric data (fingerprint/face) stays on your device and is used only by your phone’s operating system for authentication — it’s not shared with PhonePe, banks, or NPCI.
Optional & Secure: You choose whether to enable this feature. Traditional UPI PIN entry remains available.
