Steven de Groot is a product designer and sketch artist based in Eindhoven, Netherlands, known for his bold industrial design renderings. Using energetic marker strokes that intentionally extend beyond the outlines, he builds dynamic sketches of cars, tools, and everyday objects with striking depth and realism. You don’t need a specific degree to become a Product Designer, but you do need a strategy. Whether you're in dev, marketing, or sales, here is the roadmap to making the shift: 1️⃣ Build a Foundation of Design Logic Start by shifting your focus from "how it looks" to "how it works." Spend your first few weeks obsessing over Design Thinking and User Psychology. Read The Design of Everyday Things and take a foundational course to understand why certain layouts succeed while others fail. 2️⃣ Master Figma Through Deliberate Practice Figma is the industry standard, and you need to move beyond the basics of drawing shapes. You must master Auto-Layout, Design Systems, and advanced Prototyping to be competitive in today’s market. 3️⃣ Document a Process-Driven Case Study A portfolio of pretty UI is no longer enough; companies hire for your thinking. Focus on creating one "deep-dive" case study that identifies a real-world problem, shows your messy sketches, and explains your iterations. 4️⃣ Market Your Unique "Transferable Superpower" Don’t try to hide your past career; use it as your edge. If you were a developer, highlight your hand-off efficiency; if you were in sales, highlight your empathy and communication. 5️⃣ Embed Yourself in the Design Community You cannot grow in a vacuum. You need feedback from people who are already where you want to be. Engaging with mentors and peers will help you skip months of trial and error. 🔥 Ready to start your journey? I’ve navigated this path through Amazon, Microsoft, and Google, drop your questions below and let’s get you unstuck! 💬 #ProductDesign #CareerShift #DesignMentor #UXStrategy

Save this video for your next figma slides project! I love using this interaction for agenda points to add a little *spice* to my slides “smart animate” is the easiest way to add smol joyful interaction all you need to do is: - open a separate figma file - add objects to a frame, duplicate that slide, and then rearrange, resize, or reorient the objects on the new frame. - select both frames and apply “create component set” - final step = copy the first frame over to your slides and click present to see the 🪄 ✨ ** this slide is a sneak peek from my full presentation where I break down everything I do as a product designer—explaining it all in a way my parents can easily understand!

Follow for artsy office fits👩🏼‍💻🎨 I work as a product designer in a tech company and I’ve always believed you can wear whatever you want to work. At the same time, I love fashion and everything around it - the shows, the designers, the ideas behind it. So I use my holidays to go to fashion weeks. For me these two worlds aren’t separate. The common thing in both of them is just… me. My style and what makes me feel comfortable. I honestly think you shouldn’t adjust yourself to the industry you work in - the industry can adjust to you. So now I’m curious: which outfits did you like more - the office ones or the fashion week ones?
