Hope isn’t distant. I saw it this week in trans people showing up, in parents choosing their kids, in advocates doing the work, and in rooms where our voices are finally being heard. At @christopherstreetproject, I helped organize and execute an education forum that reached over 150 people, supported advocacy day meetings with members of Congress, and helped build a rally where trans people and allies showed up loud and united. I’m proud to serve as senior digital strategist and help bring this work to life. That’s what hope looks like right now. Not finished, but real and still unfolding. And it keeps us building toward a future where we are safe, respected, and free. #TransDayOfVisibility #TransRightsAreHumanRights #ProtectTransLives #TransJoy #WeKeepGoing

Kansas is using trans lives as a political football to distract from their own failures, and we are not going to let them do it quietly. Today our community mourns all the trans people that do not get to have a future because of senseless acts of violence and hatred. 🏳️‍⚧️ it is transgender day of remembrance and I am seeing post after post forgetting Nex. I’m reposting this to add to the conversation. I am mourning my community who is no longer here. Not just those taken this year but all the years past too. I broke down over Nex. I broke down over Daniel who I spoke to online. I continue to breakdown as life after life is taken. I am in tears writing this. The number of lives taken is different across so many sources, and I’m sure, it’s higher than reported. It is heartbreaking. It is heartbreaking that trans people everywhere are fearing for their lives. We should not have to feel like this just because we are being authentic. Did you know that 76% of victims were people of color? Did you know that 52% were black trans women? Did you know that 41% were misgendered by police/authorities and the press (many by their own families as well)? 😢 We must continue to stay visible and continue to educate the public. Trans futures are important and so deserved. I will continue to do all I can to uplift this beautiful community so that these statistics get lower and lower. We must all do our part. Trans people you are so loved, you are so beautiful, and you belong. I love you. 🏳️‍⚧️ 🩵💓🤍 Big hugs to all who need them.
