I remember talking to one of my seniors from MA regarding research proposal. That day, I had ZERO idea about research proposal and what all it entails. 💫We can't know everything right?😪 💫We can't have a race with time right? 💫Just like writing a 'Q' felt difficult in nursery, it was nothing in 1st standard. 💫Just like reading a story of 2 pages looked so monstrous at the age of 7, it was nothing at the age of 12. 💫We all learn at our own time. Similarly, I knew nothing about Research proposal in my post-MA phase. Embarking on the journey of crafting a research proposal can indeed be a rollercoaster of emotions and thoughts, filled with moments of uncertainty and clarity alike. Initially, as I began conceptualizing my research, I found myself wrestling with vague ideas, grappling with the abstract and uncertain nature of my area. This phase likely triggered feelings of frustration and anxiety as I struggled to articulate my thoughts into a coherent plan. I asked myself, "Tanya, what do you want to research on?" Sadly, I had no one answer to it. There were answers and more answers. Mentally, I experienced a whirlwind of brainstorming sessions, where ideas flitted in and out of my mind, only to leave me more bewildered than before. Earlier my proposal was: ●Disorganized ●Centre-less ●Ambiguous ●Unclear Emotionally, this phase was challenging because I always thought ●What is trendy in my subject? ●Should I take some fancy research area? ●What is more trendy and what is less trendy? ●I grappled with feelings of inadequacy and uncertainty. ● The fear of failure loomed large, casting a shadow over my enthusiasm and passion. Then What did I do? ■I read more and more. ■I made literary connections. ■I talked to some of my seniors. ■I took help from YouTube. ■I downloaded hundreds of free research proposals. What's the process?? ✅- Identify research topic ✅- Define research questions ✅-Review relevant literature ✅- Formulate objectives ✅- Choose methodology ✅-Outline research plan ✅- Identify resources ✅- Set timeline ✅- Review and refine ✅- Finalize and submit #phdindia #researchpaper #phd #read #researchproposal

Before you hit “submit” on your research proposal… READ THIS! 🚨 Many brilliant research ideas never get approved — not because they lack depth, but because they’re poorly presented 😩 🧠 Here’s your ultimate guide to writing a winning research proposal 👇 ✅ Title: Make it clear, focused & relevant. ✅ Introduction: Set the context — why this study matters. ✅ Problem Statement: Highlight what issue you’re solving. ✅ Objectives: Define what you’ll achieve. ✅ Literature Review: Show what’s missing in past research. ✅ Framework / Hypothesis: Build your study’s backbone. ✅ Methodology: Be precise — how, who, and what you’ll study. ✅ Data & Analysis: Be systematic and logical. ✅ Timeline + Budget: Prove you’re organized and ready. ✅ References: Cite like a pro. ✅ Appendices: Keep it complete. Remember: 💬 > A proposal isn’t just paperwork — it’s your academic passport to approval, funding, and recognition 🌍 So write with clarity, and coherence. 📌 Comment " Proposal" to get the sample draft for reference. Comment “PLAGIARISM” and I’ll send you my PDF notes with practical tips and checklists to avoid plagiarism in research papers and PhD theses + the tool link I use. One of the biggest reasons research papers, theses, and journal submissions get rejected is plagiarism or high similarity. Many PhD scholars and research students don’t realize that plagiarism is not only copy-paste. Even poor paraphrasing, missing citations, reused text, or uncited figures can get your work flagged by an ethics committee or journal editor. If you are writing a research paper, literature review, thesis, dissertation, or research proposal, you need to understand how academic plagiarism detection works and how to keep your similarity index low while maintaining proper citations. Every researcher should know about academic integrity, plagiarism in research writing, paraphrasing correctly, citing sources, and running a plagiarism check before submission. These practices are essential for PhD students, master’s students, and academic researchers who want to publish in journals and avoid desk rejection. The plagiarism check feature of the tool “Akowe” I use helps you detect similarity, identify problematic sections, where citations are required and tells you exactly where more paraphrasing is needed before journal submission. This tool has Review Assistant and Literature Review features which are super helpful. If you try the Pro plan, don’t forget to use my code MANSHA30 at checkout. #plagiarismcheck #academicwriting #researchpaperwriting #phdlife #phdstudent ResearchTips ThesisWriting DissertationWriting ResearchMethodology LiteratureReview AcademicIntegrity ResearchEthics JournalPublication PhDResearch GradSchoolLife

3 mistakes 💌 In a time when more programs may be requiring you to secure your own research funding for your PhD or you simply want to obtain your own funding for peace of mind, here are the 3 common mistakes students make in their applications—from someone who received an F31 on her first try & has reviewed many others. 1. Putting the most importance on the research proposal The science matters, but F31s are training awards, not R01s. Reviewers are scoring you as a developing scientist: your training plan, mentorship, environment, career goals, and how this fellowship will grow your skills. You should treat the proposal as one pillar: build equally strong Specific Aims, training plan, candidate background, and mentor/team narrative. 2. Submitting to whatever NIH institution Institute choice can make or break your odds because each institute has different priorities, paylines, and culture. If your project doesn’t align with their mission, you’re fighting uphill even with good science. You should read institute mission pages + recent funded topics, look at which institute funds papers like yours, and email the program officer to confirm fit before you submit. 3. Not ensuring content matching across documents Reviewers notice when your story changes from section to section: different aims, different timelines, different training goals, different “future plans.” That looks sloppy and can raise doubts about feasibility. Make a “consistency checklist” (aims, models, key methods, training activities, timeline, career goal language) and do one final pass solely to align wording. Ensure your letters of support are also on the same page. I have lots more advice so lmk if you want a part 2 in the comments! #gradschool #phd #phdadvice
