When asked what misconception about rural healthcare he’d like to clear up, Dr. Riley is quick to point out that it’s anything but “easy.” Practicing medicine in a rural setting means caring for a wide variety of cases, solving problems in real time, and making the most of the resources around you, all while staying deeply connected to the community you serve. #IntegritasProviders

Let’s get reel about rural healthcare. Recruiting physicians in rural communities means: ✔ Better access to care ✔ Earlier diagnoses ✔ Stronger community health But many rural areas are losing physicians, forcing patients to travel farther for care and limiting access to services like maternity and mental health support. Investing in physician recruitment means investing in healthier communities. #RuralHealthcare #HealthcareAccess #FuturePhysicians #OklahomaHealthcare

Rural hospitals across America are shutting down. Politicians say billions are coming to help. But here’s the reality. Many of these hospitals are already losing money every year. Cut their funding, raise insurance costs, burn out the nurses… and then promise help later. They cannot survive year to year like that. Now add another layer: insurance companies using AI to decide what care gets approved. So the real question is not just funding. Who will actually decide if patients get care? Watch the full reaction on YouTube. Should rural hospitals be federally protected infrastructure? #HealthcareHenry #RuralHealthcare #HospitalClosures #HealthcareCrisis #HealthPolicy

Moving from opportunity to action. At the Arkansas Rural Health Partnership, our focus is clear: make sure rural providers have the information, guidance, and support they need as new funding opportunities take shape across the state. As our founder Mellie Boagni shared, the structure is being built, the plan is in place, and now it’s about getting the word out so rural communities are ready to move forward. 📲 arruralhealth.org

Had a great meeting at the Sterling Area Health Center with President and CEO George Olson to discuss the current status of Federally Qualified Healthcare Centers. We discussed the impacts on rural healthcare following the passage of The Big Beautiful Bill (H.R. 1), particularly the downstream effects of Medicaid funding cuts. On an individual level, these cuts mean fewer covered services, increased out-of-pocket costs, and in many cases, delayed or foregone care. For working families, seniors, and veterans who rely on Medicaid as a safety net, even small reductions in coverage can lead to larger health issues down the road. In rural communities, the impact is even more significant. Medicaid funding is a critical revenue stream that keeps clinics operational. When that funding is reduced, it puts immense financial pressure on facilities that are already operating on thin margins. This can lead to reduced services, staffing challenges, and in some cases, the risk of closures, forcing residents to travel farther for care or go without it altogether. For Federally Qualified Health Centers, these cuts are direct and immediate. FQHCs depend heavily on Medicaid reimbursements to provide comprehensive care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. When reimbursement levels drop, it limits their capacity to serve patients, invest in resources, and sustain long-term operations. These are real challenges affecting real people in our communities. Conversations like this matter because leadership starts with understanding the consequences of policy, not just in Washington, but here at home. A special thank you to George Olson for his time, his insight, and his continued commitment to serving this community. One voter at a time. 🇺🇸 #justinmichalforcongress #bridgingthedivides

Rural hospitals face real challenges…but they don’t face them alone. Leslie Huitt, CEO and CFO of Bradley County Medical Center, shared the realities of serving a declining population, managing rising costs, and recruiting both clinical and business office staff in rural Arkansas. That’s why connection matters. Through the Arkansas Rural Health Partnership, leaders come together to share strategies, strengthen programs, and learn from one another, because when one rural hospital succeeds, we all move forward. 📲 arruralhealth.org

Many rural communities are officially classified as medically underserved. That means fewer providers, fewer hospitals, and fewer resources for people who still need care.
