FRMONDAY MORNING UPDATE in response to video circulating of woman being detained: SFO has confirmed ICE was at the airport Sunday night for immigration enforcement and that this is unrelated to the Trump administration’s plan to deploy ICE agents to assist with TSA.
On Sunday, the Trump administration said #ICE agents would be deployed to airports starting Monday to help with long security lines & TSA staffing shortages.
SFO and other Bay Area airports were not on the initial list of airports. A few weeks ago, we reported on how @flysfo passenger screening is handled by private contractors under the TSA Screening Partnership Program. The airport joined this #federal program over 20 years ago.
Should this be what all airports do? The union representing TSA agents doesn’t think so.
