VOA cockroach can survive for a surprisingly long time because of its slow metabolism and simple body systems. Without food, it can live for about 30 to 40 days since it doesn’t need much energy to stay alive. However, without water, it usually survives only around 5 to 7 days, as dehydration is its biggest weakness. In extreme cases, a cockroach can even live for about 7 to 10 days without its head because it breathes through small openings in its body and doesn’t rely on its mouth or lose much blood; it eventually dies due to lack of water. Cockroaches are also known for their ability to tolerate harsh conditions like mild cold and higher levels of radiation compared to humans, though they are not indestructible and will die in freezing temperatures or extreme environments.
