Chaos Embroidery is my intuitive approach to slow stitching.
There are no patterns.
No pre-drawn designs.

I build my textile art layer by layer using hand stitching, texture, and hand dyed fabrics. Threads overlap. Colours contrast. Marks evolve over time.
From the outside, it may look chaotic.
But the process is mindful, tactile, and deeply calming.
This is contemporary embroidery rooted in instinct — where movement, texture, and emotion guide the needle.

JUI’ve been stitching almost daily since the beginning of 2020. Initially, I started it as a simple way to stay creative and pass the time while traveling. Then I discovered it to be a great stress reliever during the pandemic, and then I found I missed stitching after every piece I finished.
As I focus on making repetitive, even stitches, I’m distracted from the outside world and feel calmer.I often stitch in the evening as a way to wind down from the intensity of the days news.
When I engage in stitching solely as a form of active meditation, I make an effort to refrain from putting pressure on myself to produce something aesthetically pleasing or meaningful. That kind of self imposed pressure is a creativity killer.
I try to be playful and experiment, and push back against the desire to let the work be too precious. I’m willing to make mistakes because that’s when I learn the most!
After all it’s easy to pull out threads if you don’t like the way something looks.
