It comes in 3 colors, two different sizes (I got the smaller one!) from @ikeausa and both sizes are under $30. 🙌🏻 I originally went to IKEA for a larger greenhouse, but saw this mini greenhouse and knew I had to have it too! I think it’s the perfect starter greenhouse. I have a lot of accessories I’m adding to my larger greenhouse, so I really wanted to keep this mini one simple! Maybe one day I will add lights and weather stripping to seal any cracks, but for now I think this is such a beautiful addition for my plant collection! 🪴🪴 It’s the perfect space for propagations or plants that prefer higher humidity like ferns, calatheas, alocasia or anthurium. And here’s another reason for a mini greenhouse-if you have pets that are constantly getting after your plants, this is a easy way to protect them! 🐶🐈 What do you think? This greenhouse was recently on clearance at Costco, and I thought it might be helpful to provide a review for those of you who may be considering a purchase. It is marked in warehouses $400 less than the online price. After spending $40 on a cheap plastic greenhouse last year that disintegrated in the sun after 10 months, I was looking for something sturdier that didn’t fly off with my seedlings when the weather was windy. As a small space city gardener, I don’t have too much room to spare, but this seedling house fit perfectly in my garden enclosure at 75” high. This greenhouse took my husband a day and a half to put together, and I think most of the reviews online do reflect the fact that this is a complex and time consuming build. It would not be easy for a beginner or someone who is not handy to put together. The instructions were detailed and well written though with good graphics. Here is my husband’s take: “I’ve never spent this much time assembling a piece of furniture. There were a lot of pieces and parts to put together, but everything surprisingly fit well. I think everything was well thought out. Some things needed a bit of adjusting or trimming, but 98% did fit. There were two holes I had to redrill. The kit came with caulking, but I needed to buy another tube to completely caulk the inside and outside. I think the overall product is very sturdy and well designed.” I would have preferred a third shelf personally, but I have a small shelf I’m planning to also put in here. I will post updates here if my opinion changes after more usage. No, we don’t have a huge fancy custom greenhouse. When I bought my greenhouse (it was around $2k new), I didn’t have a ton of money to spend but I desperately needed one to start the thousands of veggies and flowers we grow here (until then we started in our basement)! A custom one started at around $10k. So, we bought this 6x10’ glass one (at the time it was a kit greenhouse, secondhand, by a company called Juliana in Denmark who no longer sells in the US, sadly). We have another glass and polycarbonate kit option linked in our shop in our bio. I REALLY wanted more control over what was in the plants I grew at the farm: from fungicides, pesticides and fertilizers that I don’t like in my plants, I just never knew what i was getting and it saved me TONS of money to grow my own—and I could choose all the fun varieties!! If I could change anything about this greenhouse, it would be to make it double pane glass and a bit bigger, but I’m prioritizing getting the rest of our invasive tree work done in our woods this summer so we can finish rehabbing the native habitat there. Each tray holds 320 soil blocks We can fit 5 trays on each shelf Each rack has three shelves We have three shelves That’s 14,400 plants per succession, so we could grow up to 28,800 plants in here! The wholesale value of that is around $20k to buy in if I had to. We have a YouTube video on the channel detailing this setup called “maximizing space in our backyard greenhouse” if you’re interested! You know I love DIY and when @hippowaste told me that more than half of Brits under the age of 24 believe their generation is losing the skill of DIY, I had to make sure I pass on my DIY Legacy to my girls. I wanted to make sure Sophia knew how to tackle the basics you need for most projects, such as using a tape measure, cutting with a handsaw, and mastering a drill. As you can see, she really got the hang of it. She even wanted to paint it and make it look pretty when the build was done. We also created a bit of a mess whilst we cleared this space for the greenhouse, as well as general garden waste, so we booked a @hippowaste Help to Clear – Man and Van service.
